lol, i'd have to guess in the ballpark of 7g's..but only because i built it once as tpi set-up and then again with a carb set-up. and this carb set-up was 1/2 the price of tpi.

Yeah what were you thinking building a 305?

I'm not ripping at you B4C because I can't really tell what kind of tone you meant that statement in, but the guy built a fast 305 and people still say it's worthless to build a 305. Most of the 350's on this site don't run near that time.

I'll applaud the effort. 11.6's on the bottle from a 305 is a stout small block. But... Mind this is just my opinion, not knocking your setup.. hell look at mine.. but for 7 grand you could be a full second faster with a bigger small block. Even a turbo V6 swap will run 11.6's for half that cash, and with the difference.. some real fun. It still boils down to no replacement for displacement...well theres aways boost. <G> Bob W

whoa hold up no way this motor i'm running now has 7g's in it that how much i spent between the 2 different set ups total. christ for 7 g's into 1 set up i'm sure it would run in the 10's n/a that amount also includes the work needed for fuel distribution i had to install a sump, all braided hose, fuel pump and everything else that had to be done to go from a tpi set up to a carb set up.
and so you know when i bought this car i had no intentions of racing it. it was my daily driver. then as my son got older and into cars we decided to mess around with the car. it came with a 305 so thats what we used. thats not whats going to be in the car forever were building something but for our first project (which was to see what we could get out of the useless 305) we are quit satisfied. so if we can get a 305 to run like this wait till you see our next project. as far as "what i could have got out of a 350" who cares like i said this was to see what a 305 could do. and we found that it can beat alot of 350's

$$$ does NOT EQUAL 1/4 MILES TIMES!!! sheesh.

I spent over $10,000 on my setup so far. NOT including paint or interior!!

my car only runs mid-low 12's!

but I get 21 MPG... and its fun to drive. I pull 2 second 60' times too!

but just cause i spent over 10g's doesnt mean i should be running mid 9's!!!

sheesh..$$$ does not equal quarter mile times? i don't understand that. or why you would be happy to spend 10g's and run mid 12's. but to each their own.

Find me a car with 255/60/R15 Street tires and 420 RWHP that runs better than a 12 in the 1/4 mile, with a 2.0 60' time and stock suspension.

oh, and that ALSO get better than 21 MPG, sounds stock, has 8 cylinders (laf no hondas) and doesnt run nitrous.

Not saying such a car doesnt exist, just that mines a good example. and to get it that way, it cost 10g's.

Now if i dump about $400 into suspension and $300 into tires I can be running 10's. If i want to go 9's I can install a T-brake and a ford 9". the engines GOT the power. it just runs 12's cause it cant get it to the ground. thats why Im still runing the factory 10 bolt with no problems. and after all that, I can still have my 21 MPG.

hey thanks everyone.
guido-- thanks- but i don't really get offended when someone cracks about it being a 305 when i see someone post some faster times out of a 305 then i'll be offended like i said this is what came in the car and we were just playing around with it and we just kept getting it to go faster so why not. maybe some people are a little jealous that their 350 is slower. i don't know or really care. if everyone in this world were just like the next guy this world would be pretty boring. i did something that not many people would. except you WILLIE

Hey guys im tryin to follow BADDEST305's footsets right now and tryin to see how fast i can get my 305 even into the 12's would make me happy. but right now i dont have much money invested into it but with in the next 3-4 months ill have a few grand invsted into the motor and drivetrain and some into the suspention. and yes my car will be on the bottle too, i just need to get a square bore intake which will be ordered in a few months so i can run my NOS superpower shot kit.

some people my be like oh get a 305 and what not but what if u dont have the garage space or anything for a motor to build or store. and i think of BADDEST305 as a rolemodel kinda (yes call me cheesy) but i was goin to get a supercharged 355 with powerglide for my car for 3k but decided why not try and see how fast i can get with the 305.

after i get most of the things i want to get done im hoping for mid to low 13's easy

Also his car is kinda a sleeper in my book, becuz if ur racing someone and they see his dialin and there like he's probably runnin a worked 350 or 400 and then find out its only a 305 it kinda blows there mind.

i didnt know he had a 305 till i say a post a while ago about his car on another site and then went a viewed a tape i recored one night from e-town and sure enuff it was his white z28 runnin a 11.8

LOL u 2?? i'm goin to try to get what i can out of my 305 before i decide to drop a 350, its my goal to get it fast to prove 2 people they are not $hit and i bet i will 2. well this is the info i found out so far, if u have any of this done then dont mind it.

port and bowl blend and heads (polish exhaust)
add 1.94 intake valves
add edlebrock dual plane intake
add 1 5/8 heads
3" catback
freeflow converter, headers, custome y pipe. cai

i'm sure there is some more but those are the stuff i'm worin on now after done that i am goin to slap some nos and head to the track if i dont like what i get, then mod some more. if its still bad, i'm droppin a 350.
hope that helps

Here is another little 305 1991 TA based on Willie's set up. First 3rd gen TA with a D-1SC ProCharger with twin intercooler set up. Got many $$$ into it too and time, but ready to kick some 350 a$$.

my plans are comming around slowly, i order my hooker supercomp lon tubes from jethot next week then maybe a week or so later my cam kit and valves and then find a good price on a 2500 stall converter that wont kill my tranny becuz of the price. like the B&M converters ive heard of those doin that.

388 rwhp 437 rwtq stock 305

my car laid down 388 rwhp/437 ftlbs. mods are........

1.6 roller tip rockers, ported plenum, stock TB, stock runners, stock base, edelbrock headers, edelbrock catback, off road pipe, ProCharger P600-B 14 psi pulley 8 rib (12psi @ manifold) HKS ***** bypass valve, MSD 6BTM 0*, MSD Blaster 2, MSD wires, svo 24#, 3.73's.

It was pulling a little timing out they said if I had good fuel (100 octane) I could have made a few more ponies. my gas was a couple months old when I dynoed and it still has the same tank now which has been sitting 2 more months lol.
