A super charger (blower) runs off the crank of the car while a turbo uses your car's exhaust to spin a turbine to make boost. both make boost, superchargers are more parasitic than turbos, however in my opinion if you cant fabricate, superchargers are way cheaper and easier to do. Someone correct me if I am wrong, I am no expert on this stuff, but I am looking into getting a pro charger.

If you have no experience with either do some research... theres loads of information on the 'net (more than enough if you search the power adder board too). Basically a turbo has a turbine wheel which is spun by your exhaust gasses; which in turn spin an air compressor which is connected by a shaft, and compresses that air into your intake. A centrifical supercharger works the same way only in that the compressor is spun by a pulley connected to the engine's crankshaft. Research the idea and see what will be best for you (as simplicity, cost, etc.)
