alright i got a good question to get back on topic. saturn is it better to rebuild an engine then add a supercharger, or just get a new engine? or should i say which would you do?
Geez.. I don't know.. considering I built the twins on top of a junkyard 305.. its really your call.. Now understand I built mine knowing that a dedicated blower engine would be built.. just waiting for the 305 to explode.. which sofar it hasn't..

It’s worse then you think. There are conversion charts so you can compare scores from standardized tests given in other years (I worked at a university so I had access to them). Last I heard something like a 1320 on the SAT from the year that I took it (’89-90) converts to over 1600. In other words, something considered just ‘slightly above average’ 10 years ago converts to ‘perfect’ now.

BTW, I don’t know anyone with a decent IQ that uses the actual number as an argument to ‘prove’ that he’s right…

After just spending valuable time reading this thread it has become blatantly obvious that "kidrtch" is just some loser who is probably a couple of times the age he claims with nothing better to do. It's pointless to even acknowledge his exsistence.

And on the ORIGINAL topic of this thread, Saturn5 that's amazing. When I first saw the pic of the engine bay all I could think is "damn, that's sick." What kind of reaction do you get when you open the hood and people get a first look at it?

Lots of finger pointing and head scratching..

Most asked question are what the turbos are off...

It's a tad noisy.. so pulling in to a criuse, usually gets lots of attention.. park, pop the hood, step back and watch the moths come to the flame..

A junkyard 305 can handle that much boost?? i'm suprised oh yea i forgot to ask are does the OE pullies or did you get bigger ones?? I saw one on a boneville and the pully looks smaller it might just be the picture

Ok enough with kidrtch we have waisted almost 2 whole pages on him

The pullies are "stock" diameter as used on the Super coupes. I still have the option to overdrive the blowers +5% or +10% with aftermarket pullies. Also.. can port the blower casings for additional output.

Agreed..

For someone who " nah d00d i know quite a bit about cars and engines and shizz. but i'm not gonna argue with all you **** in here anymore" you sure seem stuck about LT1's.

First a quick google woiuld find any and all info your asking for..

Second.. I do know your answer, but since it really self explainitory and obvious.. I'll see if you can find it yourself.
Third.. a h3ll.. I'll toss you a clue.. not much.

Okay... second clue.. An aluminum headed LT1 is roughly 50lbs less than a Iron Headed LT1..

You will have to ask Alex for a vowel..

Yes i did.. However there are 2 versions of a LT1.

F-body and Vette came with aluminum heads.

B-body, or for the less learned, Caprice came with iron heads.

You didn't specify which.

You know, I almost typed out the answer, but this looks like too much fun to watch.

Anyway, the car looks great Saturn. Was that Grumpy's GN on page two?

The WS6 cars had an identical LT1 to the other f-bodies from the same year...

Of course, you already knew that.

He is rather amusing.. Going out on a limb and guess hes going to clown college...

The engine is going to replace the JY 305.

Another project thats slowly creeping along is my 68 F100.

240 I6, AOD, EFI (ford lower maifold, my upper, with a LS1 TB) and 749 ECM.

Oh.. and a turbo..

Super coupe IRS, Aerostar AWD IFS, AWD transfer case..

Just something to haul parts with...

yep yer right, I took vocational courses at my community college as well, what you want to be and what you end up being have nothing to do with what classes you take. I only make $50K a year (and $10K more each year) for babysitting some heavy equipment, all those vocational courses are long forgotten.

I have a friend that recruits dip****s with big promisses of huge money to take some sort of MS systems and Sysco systems networking courses that cost more than you can pay back at the interest rate a 16 yo can afford. I think he is smarter than all of us, he only graduated high school and makes twice the $$$ as me...

Don't get the idea your special.. high school kids taking college classes is nothing new or odd.. A freind of mine from HS back in 85 was taking real college classes for credit.. Physics stuff..Oh.. BTW.. he was pushing 200 IQ. "the brain"... John was 6'4" 220 lb... Reminded me of a blond Lerch...

Hate to bust your bubble, but IT salaries are dropping.. like most of the dot.com stuff that was over inflated.

not only are the salaries dropping, but the job demand is dropping right next to it. The market is pretty much flooded with IT guys, and the jobs are dissapearing. i looked into doing this a few months ago, and found that it was almost completely empty promises about easy fun work that pays big. To get into any kind of high paying position you need to have at least a bachelors degree in computer science along with years of experience at one of those crappy 30,000 dollar jobs. Actually it's more like 16-20,000 dollar jobs.

It routinely sees 10-14 lbs.. into a stock 40K mile shortblock, mild cam, new chain.

Heads are fresh L89. Nothing special.

Intake has basic mods done.

Last comp check was 90-110 lbs. It does has some good blowby.. probibaly has cracked top rings and the oil pressure is minimal, but she hasn't puked yet.

Taking the T-10 out this week, for a manual valve body T400 and 3K stall.

Shifting is hard on the belt, thinking the 400 will be more frendly.

Now shes passed emmissions, she good until next year, by which time she turns 25.. and exempt.. in goes the new motor.

My last job (8years) I was making 43K as a electronic's tech testing assembled circuit boards that go into Crown Lift trucks.

Several reasons caused me to leave last fall.. and have been just farting about since. Luckily I had some $$ setback and have been working as a plumber's helper on the side. (Sure helps repiping my house)

Nothing in this area even being offered at that price.. at best half.

I think that answered my question in another thread…

Anyway, I take it that you’re around 8.6:1 CR (stock gasket thickness, replacing 58cc 305 heads with 64cc 350 heads)?

(I’m betting that if I paid more attention to fanglers I’d know already…)

Yeah.. 10-14 lbs boost.. or.. old/new belt.

The 305 is a stock rebuilt late 70's early 80's motor with typical dished pistons.

Felpro blue stripe head gaskets and 88 350 heads.

The 305 was ~ 8.5 to 1, but probibaly closer to 8 to 1 now. I never checked it, wasn't really worried since I figured it would have grenaded by now.. lol

hehe.. don't blink.
