Did anyone in this board actually see Improvment with SLP runners N/A?

Lately, i've been seeing lots of people claiming that the SLP runners are no no good and to obviously go with the AS&M runners or LPE. $500.00 for 10hp, maybe 20 with a modified motor is a bit excessive. So has anyone here have anything good to say about the SLP's? I know they do take a grunt on low end but pick up on top end, but has your 1/4 time improved? Id like opinions on People who have SLP's with N/A engines and preferebly a 305

I have them on my 305 TPI. I didn't notice a power increase but it did move my powerband up slightly which helps out allot with my new tranny and gears.

I do plan however on a ported plenum with an Accel manifold and then matching everything so that should give me some more RWHP & TQ and again move my power band up a little bit.

Personally I'd still get the SLP runners because of all the opportunity they have for improvement...

Stock runners shouldn't be a restriction on 305's till 6000-6500rpm assuming that the engine is at 100% VE at that point.

the stock heads are a restriction long before that, as is the cam

On my GTA with crane 2032 cam and siamesed base I lost .5 sec and 5 mph with the SLP runners, 14.9-15.0, best run with the stock runners was 14.38. IMO save your $$$ for a completely different intake.

Well if you look at Beats sig he doesn't really have any mods on the engine so of course he didn't benifit. SLP runners on 305 are only for motors with a decent amount of midifications done to them. I say this in comparison to vortechs mods he has done...

I would consider a cam a pretty significant mod. Crane 2032 cam is 214/220 and mid .4xx" lift.
Siamesed base is when you cut out the dividers between the runners on the TPI base. I don't think the siamesed base helped the SLP runners b/c together they basically created a runner length of a few inches instead of the 19"? that come stock. I didn't list the rest of my mods b/c most people have all the bolt-ons before they change the camshaft.

Here's the rest of the mods I had:
1.6RR, underdrive pullies, SLP chip, homemade cold air, edelbrock headers, hooker cat-back, randomtech 3" cat. 160* stat, ported plenum.

All told yes you do have allot of mods, did you have all of those mods when you ranthe SLP runners though or just the intake and cam? When I ask because when I had my headers off being re-done my car did seem sliggish but once I re-installed the headers it really woke everything up. I just think for the SLP runner to make a difference on a 305 it has to exhaust well too...

Yeah I had them all, I think the SLP runners would have maybe worked better if the base wasn't siamesed since they are essentially doing the same thing, but together I think I lost too much air velocity.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I did port the plenum to match the runners and the runners to match the base the best I could.

I found that the SLP runners were a disappointment until I port matched the plenum to the weird semi-siamesed upper parts of their runners. It's a sorta open-figure-eight shape. Leaving the stock 2-hole openings on the sides of the plenum makes for some nasty mismatches between the top of the SLP runners and the plenum openings. Port matching the sides of the plenum to the shape of the SLP runner openings with a die grinder really woke things up.

I can't say I felt any difference after installing them. I had cam, heads. tes and alot more. I changed to the SR and it was like a 75 shot of N20. I would buy a stealth ram and you would come out way ahead for a little over $500.00 at Summit. That would be the smart thing to do. hope this helps.

got em too

I didn't see much of a difference either. Maybe it pulled a little harder just before redline, but how often are you at 5000 rpm. Ive did the headers and exhaust shortly afterward and again just saw a minimal improvement. 1.6 rockers, again minimal improvement. I wish I had saved money on all the bolt ons and just got a 350 or a supercharger.

i tryed some on my car it had a 350 and a 5 speed at time.
I port matched the upper to the runner.
It wasn't worth the $ and I got a good deal on the base edlbrock and a 52mm TB it did feel a little better past 5000 but I can just short shift it at 5000 so i didn't see much inprovment.

I may have if i had an auto, with a 5 speed you have 4 gears to go through in the 1\4 it keeps it in the power band of the stock intake a little better
