Ok fisrt of hello everyone I'm new here but im also a member of http://www.theformulasource.com/ i have a 3rd gen and ufortunatly a lot of 4th gen guys are on that one. I have a all stock 1992 firebird 305 tbi, the car has 81k miles and oil looks like i just did an oil change at 2500 miles. The exhaust looks almost new as well as everything else on the car minus the dip i went into bendin the bottom of the front bumper. I really dont want to change exhaust, headers, EFI, or anything mechanical since im planning on getting a caprice tbi replacment 350 that is advertised to put out an honest 300hp with a different cam(the spring 2002 pace peformance mag http://www.paceparts.com/store.asp) The only thing i plan on getting is either a 3.73 or a 3.93 posi and shift kit for it. Anyways my question is i plan on just puttin an NX or N.O.S. system on it until i get my swap i heard i can use a 100 shot of NO2 without a problem could i push a 125 or better off stickin with the 100 shot. Also i need a tune up anyways but am i suppose to use a colder or hotter plugs?, and whats a good set of wires i usually use bosh wire's for new wires? And lastly should i retard my timing a little or advance it and how many degree's? O yeah i got a base time of 15.8 on the g-tech could i posibly break into the high 14's without a posi? and how long should i keep my finger on the nos button i know over use will blow stuff. Thanks in advance guys!
run some delco r44LTS or autolite 25s for plugs, should be alright. retard your timing about 3-4 degrees for a 100 shot. though it HAS been done, i wouldnt recommend going more than that on a completely stock motor. i would recommend any 8 MM wires. the best time to keep your button on is above 2000 RPM, keep it off while you are shifting, and try not to hit it for more than 15 seconds at a time. those are the general guidelines.
