Anyone interested in a custom fabricated turbo kit for their thirdgen??

Someone mentioned this in my post about selling my car and I have said all along that I would gladly put together a turbo system for someone.

I will soon have the garage space to do it and I LOVE doing the work. In fact, I bet I enjoy the build part more than the actual timeslipping/racing. LOL

If someone is interested, SERIOUSLY interested and can foot the bill for a turbo kit, Id be more than happy to put it together.

Just tossing this out there. I love doing the work and I think that my own results, limited as they may be, can speak for what I am able to accomplish.

Hell, if I got this going maybe I could be a paying sponsor here one day. LOL

Ditto, It's going to be a bit off (around income tax return time). But I'd be interested pending price.

I'm torn between turboing my current 355 or building a 427 stroker and putting a big direct port shot on it

Guido just to confirm this; you did mean having the persons car to build it right? not building and shipping the exhaust kit to someone? you need to have the car right?

turbo kit

I would be interested in you building the headers and y-pipe. I was thinking about a 91mm Turbo. I already have the PAracing K-member. Let us know...Would you have to have the car?

Depends on cost, if it's close to or a little more than the roots blower I plan on going with, then I would be intrested, but it has to include everything from the intake manifold up. Besides, I'm fairly close (45 min or so) from you. I didn't realize you lived in Connersville. I'm in New Pal (just east of Indy).

I know where new pal is. I go throught there a lot. The cops are always dicks up that way so I ALWAYS make sure to go the sped limit. LOL

I would have to have the car. Thirdgens are very tight for exhaust clearance.

What i mean, is that I would be willing to build them for people. Maybe, if I got one or two different ones setup, I could build a jig and be able to do them without a car but the first couple would have to be on the car. And would depend if someone wanted a twin or single. either is feasible.

Would probably do it out of steel 16ga. tubing too because it would save cost, and seems that a lot of people are using steel tubing in their kits these days and it holds up fine.

Ya, they are dicks, but I'm lucky and live on the county line so I don't have to worry about them much. I'm intrested as long as it doesn't cost too much, and I have truck so it wouldn't be a problem letting you have the car for however long you needed it.

I would be interested in a set of SBC turbo manifolds (for a twin setup). Lemme know when you have the pricing worked out.

yeah if you built just a single pass side header with a inlet for using a shorty of anykind on the driverside and running it to the pass side one you made and still fit a turbo on the front end of it I would be really interested in something like that.

Sadly enough it comes down to costs there too, if you happen to build the twin header set and the price is outstanding I would have to reconsider my ideals on what is more sensible.

well I'm in Fort Wayne. It's not that far, and my motor was just built for forced induction(low comp). So do you have a ballpark for prices and time to complete? I am very interested.

I'm definately interested. Maybe a junkyard thirdgen would be good enough to test header setups on?
Also, I wouldn't worry about people who would be running the stock airbox etc as I'd think that if you're putting a turbo in your thirdgen there's not much that's going to be left stock anyway...

yeah if you just built the Y and down pipes and told us use X brand of shorty header, then thats what I would be willing to do if it helps any like hooker or SLP etc.

For those of you keeping up, I am negotiating a deal to do a single turbo kit on a 3rd gen Formula.

When this all goes through I will make some final estimations before I decide how to proceed.

Looks like a single turbo kit will be made now though!

Stay tuned.

I cant say anything at this point. I havent even got the dude's car in my posession. I have to see how close the headers are to everything under the hood before I decide, even if I do, how these things can be replicated and sold.

protect your market man, it's really cool that you're pioneering a turbo kit for the masses; if you can keep it exclusive, you could wind up like steve spohn or lon at top down, a respected monopolist =D Props to all those guys for finding a niche and filling it, just hold onto your secrets - so i can buy one in a couple months

need?

Well, I certainly cant afford the turbo or procharger right now, but do you need someone to spit shine the turbo kits?? Taking applications? I expect atleast 10 shares of your companies stock when you make it big!, =)

-Greg, btw, let me kno if you need someone for spitshining the turbo kits! :hail:

Depending on price I would highly consider this. I've been searching for a turbo kit for some time now, so count me in.
