nitrous (where's the power?)
Allright, i know a 125 shot isn't that large, but i was expecting something. i honestly feel more of a power improvement by taking off my aircleaner than spraying on my run. i have a 355, nothing real special, with edelbrock performer carb and intake, 700r4, and 3.73 rear.
i was wondering, is it possible that the nitrous could in someway be to old, or if the bottle is low, would a lack of pressure cause it not to shoot enough.? i did buy this used, and the guy i got it from said that it had been sitting in his garage for about a year, and that the bottle is only about half full. Please help me out with this. is it possible even that the holes in the injector plate may be dirty or something. i'll be honest, i dont see ne way something like this would justify spending extra money to make a stronger motor, i'm having trouble justifieing the 250 dollars i spent on it.

how much bottle pressure did you have? Were you running overly rich? Did you have track times, or are you goin on the butt dyno?
I had 125hp hit on my old S-10 for to keep it on the safe side for a first time use. 125hp was NUTS!(well for not ever using nitrous) and never having over 400hp before. I hit that button and wow! So something is definatly not right..
Later I found 210hp too be much more fun :hail:
Is this the 05151 kit?

Nitrous can break down over time and especially with heat. Bottle pressure is also very critical. If the bottle had been sitting unused for a long period of time before you go to it, I would at least have it filled if not empty it and completely re-fill it.
Another thing to check is the solenoids. With the bottle closed and car not running (key "on") have a buddy activate the system while you listen to/feel the solenoids for activation.
Good luck!!

Weigh the bottle. When full a 10LB bottle weighs about 25LBS.
When a NOS bottle is "empty" it will still have some N2O in it.
But it is in a gaseous form. No good for making power.
A full NOS bottle is in liquid form.
If the bottle weighs around 15lbs, its empty.
Usually you'll get 7 to 8 quarter mile passes on a full bottle
at 100HP. The last pass on a bottle will be soft because the bottle is near "empty" and the NOS in the bottle is not a pure liquid and cannot maintain bottle pressure.
A bottle heater will help get the most out of each bottle.
The bottle pressure should be 900PSI (80-85*F) for proper operation.
Less pressure (colder) temp will decrease performance.
Thats why people use a "bottle warmer" to maintain proper bottle pressure ( temp).
Fuel pressure must be 5 to 6PSi flowing and be constant.
The NOS solenoid may be clogged up with dirt. Or not working.
Strip down both solenoids and clean 'em. Clean the NOS plate
too. If you don't know how to strip down a NOS solenoid and clean and rebuild it get some one to show ya.
Get an inline NOS filter. Replace it often. Use it to refill the bottle too.
Any dirt in the NOS really plays havic with the solenoid.
Buying a used NOS system is dicey at best.
Most of the time the reason its for sale (cheap) is because the owner had trouble with it. (lack of maintience, dirt etc)
