Ram Air question
OK, i have a Ram Air 2 hood on my car and was wondering if the 4th gen intake box from the Ram Air option will fit?
So instead of getting the open air element that ramairhood sells, i could go to a junk yard and get this out of a 4th gen and make it fit for better intake???

Im not sure about bolting that on...there would be some definate fab work involved...becauset the panel that the 4th gen one mounts too is FURTHER from the hood... Plus the RA2 hood on a thirdgen leaves Less distance from where the TB is in relation to the NOSTRILS in the hood...Hence the narrow looking box they sell...
My concern with that would be water....those RA2 hoods basically just have an open HOLE to the engine compartment***at least the two that Ive seen in person....If you used the 4th gen box set up normally then water would be BLOWN right at the filter..You would have to make a Baffle/trap to keep water out...
Again I am no expert on these parts and I know Almost anything you want to do CAN be done if you have good fab skills...BUT it does NOT look like a 1-2-3 bolt in deal

Basically You just need a Piece of plastic that Points upwards...That way the air runs over the top and the wather channels down the sides....Thats how the vete setup works when you buy the ram air kit where the front licence plate area becaomes the intake duct...??
I dont think it would be too had to do...But without the parts in hand its really hard to say...Maybe someone who has tried it will chime in...

good question
Ive thought about that before and would like to try it, but you shouldn't have any water issues, the air goes in the nostriles and into that cavity under the hood, if you have one you know what im talking about, then when it comes back out towards the intake box there is a lip that points upward, plus the cavity is so large that water does not make it that far.. I taped a piece of paper to the front of the intake box one time and drove 60 in pooring down ran and it was completly dry... Later man, if you try this lae me know if it worked out for you..
