Honestly I can't directly answer your question without more input but when it comes to nitrous, on all my nitrous cars i say run what YOU and your MOTOR are comfortable with. If you think its to much just don't run it it just that simple. I'm not comfortable running a 200 shot on my stock block L98, even if it "could" take it.

There is tons of info on these boards just search around and see if someone has a close combo to yours and guage there experiences.

ONe thing you dont want to do is drill out your jets. There is no way to know how much nitrous your spraying if you do that. Buy a jet kit. Its a much safer way to increase power.

jets have precision holes, drillingthem yourself is no guarantee of the hole size. Thousanths really count here...

Rule of thumb......if you see flames, you used too much.

Well I feel like I want to run a 500 shot so I can bust out a 9. But in all honesty something would fail around 200+.

Look at your setup, and research your parts. I wouldnt necessarily run a huge *** shot on some stock hypo pistons. But its all up to you, if you want another engine, I guess run whatever you want ?

Tell us your setup, and then we'll see whats up.

I run 150 hp to 180 hp all the time with my stock 92 L98 (12.15 to 12.10s) and the last trip to the track. I used 210 hp jets and it ran a 11.61 and had my run card taken away. I think it will hold more and will try (250 to 300) But first I need a driveshaft loop, roll bar and other things to pass inspection.

Back off? Why? You just figured out what the weak point was so you can build it stronger and you can jet up once you get it rebuilt.

Are you sure you haven't had a previous rebuild with forged pistons? j/k

Thats scary, I recently discovered the limit of even an LS1 is a 200 shot. It lasted for maybe 6 weekends at Gateway untill it cracked a piston and bit the dust.

"even an LS1???"

FWIW, an LS1 is nothing but a mediocre engine with great heads. Put comparable heads on a traditional SBC and you'll make the same power in a much more durable package. Put them on an LT1 and you may even make a little more power.
