supercharging an lg4?
hi everyone, I was wondering if it is possible to supercharge a lg4? if so is it worth it, is there any cheap way to do it? and how much power would it add?

compression ratio is ideal... BUT the pistons are weak since they are cast. Don't think the crank, rods, and bearings would hold up too long especially if it has alot of miles. If you decide to supercharge it run no more than 7 lbs with the best pump gas you can buy.
otherwise your better off rebuilding the 305 as a L69 or getting a larger engine
btw, a guesstimate of 260 hp

The LG4 is just as strong as any of the other 305's and 350's used in the 3rd gens. Arguably, it's stronger then the v8's made between '89 and '95 in most ways. The LG4 heads are better flowing castings then the LO3, LB9 and L98 castings…
Really, the long block is probably the best combination of parts of any 3rd gen to 'charge. Swap cams, clean up the heads and make sure that the supporting systems are up to the task and you could easily get it into 500hp range, and it would be a lot less detonation sensitive then something like an L98 pushed as far.
The real question is what shape is _your_ LG4 in? If it's in good shape then no problem
