bov placement question
Does it matter where on the blower discharge tubing the bov is placed in relation to the throttle butterflies or the compressor discharge? Is one of these positions better than the other? Here are two pics of places I can easily mount it, but I prefer the one with the bov mounted on the driver side of the engine compartment. The reason I like that position is I won't have to pull the bov off to replace the battery, and it's less congested over there.

My BOV will be placed on the "S" shaped tubing above the battery as close to the throttle body as possible. That is when I can find BOV that opens only at a pre-set pressure. Seems like there's confusion on these boards as to what a BOV is compared to a surge valve.... To me, a blow-off valve opens (blows off) only when a pre-set pressure is attained, which is exactly what I need. It should open only when the internal air pressure reaches 1-2 psig above my maximum boost value, thereby allowing the unneeded pressure to "blow off".
My two surge valves are placed:
1) Just after the driver's side IC, which vents back to the blower inlet. This allows cooler post-IC air to recirculate, not hot pre-IC blower air, &
2) Just before the passenger's side IC, which vents to atmosphere. This one is automatically controlled as is #1 AND manually opened/closed. This allows hot pre-IC air to vent to atmosphere.

This Tial will open under 2 conditions. Boost pressure goes above the spring pressure rating (interchangeable), or throttle is closed ie sudden throttle lift off or deceleration. Right now I have it set at 11psi, since my motor is stock and it probably wouldn't take much more than that.

The vacuum hose isn't connected because I just set the bov on the pipe to see where it would go. I'll have to weld the flange to the discharge pipe once I decide where to put it.
I was mainly just wondering if the bov would still work good if I placed it close to the compressor discharge like in the first pic I posted.
