Im not interested in any type of modified turbo setup, just have a question pertaining to a certain turbo. Currently i work for the USPS as an Fleet Engineer. We work on many diesel engines and find many designs. There are tractors which seem to have an unusual design, which im sure is pretty old tech. but they are catipillar engines. I've seen a couple of garret turbos which are usually on located on "Wrecker" trucks. We just got a new shippment of LLV's(Long Life Vehicles) which have mercedes deisel engines along with tiny garret turbos as well. Has anyone here ever witness any of the turbos that are used on 7 ton trucks? I know its nearly impossible to guess without a pic, but just wondering if anyone here has every seen one and know the configurations or if anyone has ever adopted the idea of retrofitting em on their SBC.

 

You'd have to give more details for someone to guess what turbos you're actually talkinga about. I myself am tinkering with a Holset off of a Cummins from a Freightliner wrecker…

 

I figured more data was needed. Best i could come up with is serial number. Was just wondering if anyone here has ever worked on the trucks and was perhaps familiar with the turbos itself. Have any pics of that turbo cummins project you got going for yourself?
