Introductions. . .
I just wanted to make a quick post to introduce myself. I was led here through some tech article links that were posted on turbomustangs.com, where I post fairly regularly. I was really impressed by the tech articles, so I decided to register. I also recognize a few of you, like Guido and 83 Crossfire TA, from other forums/lists.
Although I do not own a 3rd Gen, I do own a Chevy.
I'm running a water-to-air intercooled twin turbo 355 in a '72 Vega GT. I'm also blowing through a carburetor.
At any rate, just wanted to introduce myself. I look forward to discussing power adder tech with y'all.

Hi SWT Racing, and welcome to thridgen!
I just read that you have a Chevy Vega, I do not own one, but I'm making a turbo setup for a customer who owns one with the V8 swap. It's incredible, the headers he currently have in his car won't let him remove even the starter without removing the headers and engine at the same time. Same thing happens with the tranny, can't be removed without removing headers and engine. Did you had this problem when running headers, if you did run headers before going twin turbo, just curious?
Thank you, and welcome again to 3rd gen.

What type of motor mounts does your customer run? There are three types: stock V8 Monza, Don Hardy, and Hooker/Trans-Dapt. The Hooker type is on the front of the motor and mounts to brackets on the framerails. The headers for this type each have the rearmost tube exit the engine compartment and co around the frame. They are 3-piece slip-tube headers. The other two types of motor mounts mount to the factory motor mount pads on the engine and frame, and the headers are routed just like a standard header. He probably has this type if he has that much trouble with the trans and starter. With the Hooker swap kit, I would have to drop the headers to change starter or to remove the oil filter. I used to just use a remote mount for the filter. I could get the trans out with the headers on though. Because the headers are 3-piece, they come off very easily if they need to come out.
