how do turbo's work
today my teacher said that a turbo works by pulling the exhuast out of the engine and that pulls intake in faster. i always thought it used the exhaust flow to turn a fan that drew in and compressed fresh air. i probaly am wrong but i'm not sure. thanks

Basically you're exhaust comes out of the head and goes through a pipe into the turbo which spins an impeller on the backside then exhaust dumps out the center of the backside into another pipe. The exhaust impeller is connected on a shaft to another impeller. As that 2nd impeller spins it's similar to a centifugal supercharger... air comes in the center and gets pushed out the side exit on the way to the intake. That's basically my understanding in the short run... check out the website.
Kind of sounds like the teacher was trying to describe the feedback loop.
