Stupid question, Yet I have some advice, perhaps the bigger pulley you have it on which makes it work harder creates the whine you want. or perhaps just buy a ****ty S/C that has its bearings going out that will sound whiney enough for ya.

I never heard an supercharger sound like a turbo they have their own sound is a whine caused be the gears in side the supercharger sounds similar to having a timing gear opposed to having a timing chain/belt I think ATI, Vortech has the blower kits that will give you the whine but most company's are going with silent drive superchargers for the sleeper effect

I dont think this is a stupid question. I have a Vortech S-Trim. It does a good job at pissing off the neighborhood. Friends of mine describe it as sounding like a Jet when cruzing by. IMO turbo's and S/C's have different sounds. But if you want a loud S/C, Vortech makes some pretty loud ones (as long as its no the SQ model).

Well after I changed my D1SC blower pulley to a smaller one I found it made that turbo sound some what and I'am not talking about gear whine, don't get me wrong it ain't no turbo but it sure sounds kewl as hell.

Are you talking about the sound of the BOV releasing after a shift?

buy a P600b from prochargeer, has to be the noisest one i ever heard. Oh and the faster you turn it the more racket it will make.
If you don't care for performance why don't you put one of those annoying gear drives on?

Mine is pretty loud! Some guy actually acused me of having a gear drive! I wanted to smoke the tires for him but my truck is so out of tune I can't. (I really need a converter!)

My p600b is virtually quiet after 2 grand. Below that, and it is obnoxious.

Also, about the comment using the bigger pulley to make the s/c work harder, it is the other way around. The smaller the pulley, the faster the s/c is spinning.

As far as the topic goes, I don't know of any s/cs that sound like turbos.

roots style blower are definatly loud. As for centrifugal blowers my friend has a novi2000 on his fox body mustang and it is noisy at idle and low rpm's until he romps on it then it just kinda of blends in.

A lot of the "traditional" blower sound in a roots comes from the cogged belt. I ran a B&M with the serpentine belt and it was completely silent. Put a cogged belt setup on something and you will hear it.

As BigTTime said. Get something like a Pete Jacksons gear drive. the specifically machine them for more "noise". Sometimes though, with a gear drive, your knock sensor tends to pick up frequencys from them.

I'll have a sound clip this spring. 4Bolt Forged/balanced Eagle 383 (1pc rear seal), DART Iron Eagle 215cc 72cc heads, custom ground Comp Cam, harland sharp RR's, ATI P1SC (14lb pulley),TPIS Bigmouth,SLP Runners, BBK 58Twinn,60#FI with custom '749 Bin, SLP 1-3/4 non-air headers to true dual 2.5 H-pipe/catback into bullet long tube mufferls (similiar to B4CTom's). Wew, alot of things in the past 2 years. I am looking at (2) things currrently (flying someout out to test tune). Local shop may not give me a deal where I would say buy 4 hours and get 5. The local ricers have eaten up alot of local shops time. I'm venturing into more and more of doing 100% of everything myself. I'm even welding my exhaust now!
