Hey all, i just finished building my 388 stroker up and was wondering just how much boost i could run. as the motor stands right now im pulling about 7.5:1 comp with J/E dished and AFR race heads. cam to be determined on how much boost i can run. im anting to see atleast 800+hp out of her. Any sugestions on turbos? Thanks.

What else is in your engine crank and rod wise? What injection set up are you using? Sorry no help here on boost lvls or turbo sizes, but are you planning on running the twins with them sitting above and outward of the valve covers or sitting them above the different battery and canister trays?

as far as the bottom end is conserned, i got a forged eagle crank, forged 6.0 rods arp re-enforced forged main caps(custom fabricated). The turbos will be mounted above the valve covers. Fuel injection is going to be completely custome. when all said and done, the motor (should) be able to handle 12 to 1500 horse. This car is not going to be a street car.

i don't know that the eagle crank will handle that much power.

and for the record, the splayed main caps are nodular, not forged.

well will just have to see, this block is not an old bloack that has been cleaned up. it is brand new, with top quality everything, so,we'll just have to see. If the guys in the ihra run crazy **** like that, i shouldnt have any probs. again, this is ourely a strip car. I just had the question about the turbos cause i dont know much about them, im a blower guy, but a few of my friends convinced me to go turbo, and i wanted outside opinions from other knowledgable people in the turbo. Thanks.

Dont get me wrong it can and is done but you are risking a whole motor because i gurantee if it goes it wont be a little something breaking but a chain reaction.

But really itll all bowl down to the combination of parts im runnin 2 Syclone 20g turbo's putting out 660 cfm and good for 430 hp each these are feeding a beefed up 5.7 with all internals and externals matched to the turbos. As long as you dont do what so many other people do which throw a setup on there so you can say i have TT's youll be alright. Good luck

Oh yeah man, im not just another guy that has a motor and wants to put turbos on cause they look cool. The motor is pretty much built, and comp. should be right around 7 to 1, i built the motor specificly to run alot of boost. I do know what you mean though, my neighbor bougt a v-trim vortech and bolted it onto his stock 5.0 and tried feeding me some line that they can handle that much power stock, and sure enough a few days later, there was the tow truck dropping his car off cause he blew it to bits. I just dont understand some people.

And if they're good for 430hp each, how are you making 985hp as it says in your sig?

Check into upgrades for em an option was a 20g and i believe there was one more that was a step up. But yeah in stock form you wouldnt find that on one but these are direct replacements.

And they are good for up to 430hp each but im not gonna push em that far, build you up a 350 throw about 6g's into it and then tell me you'd be willing to push it to the max. I wish i had the money to say oh well if it blows ill replace it but i have a few other cars i like to spend money on also. And this isnt a put down comment but have you ever driven a 500hp street car there kinda hard to handle so add in another 400hp and you have an extremely violent car that can put you 6 ft under in a heartbeat.

Well the only reason i posted these questions is because my friend has a 88 5.0 mustang with a 98' modular 4.6 cobra motor
totaly built for mass amounts of boost and as it sits with his twin-turbo setup, hes gotten it up to 1250 on the dyno, and trust me, i was standing ther watching it. ****ing insane, so ever since then, ive wanted to build a car to sort of show him up. But trust me, we have drivin it on the streets before, cruised it a little, but never without his shops tow truck behind us. Street ridability, not all that great, cool factor, through the roof Now i gotta build my car and try to take him on......... If thats even possible.

Man i hear ya there there is a guy i was trying to do the same too same kind of car your talking about turboed 5.0 capable of 8's in the 1/4 i now see im a long way off i know i could exceed his hp the way my motor sits now but he seems to have an endless budget and seems to crank out an assload more power when he feels threatend.

If built like you say no reason you cant run Gobs of boost.
The Tune is whats gona count. Keep it out of detonation and done run it lean.

No reason you cant push anywhere from 9-20psi.
