Set-up for blower

I live in a state (MD) with emisions and I'm trying to figure a set-up that can get by the test and still make good power...

Up untill awhile ago I was bent on doing a big cube solid roller set-up ..but I just don't see how I could get it to pass. I have read of a few guys getting 230+ duration cams to pass, but the risks of it seems not worth it.

Now I'm thinking a 383 with a mild blower cam and a supercharger with lots of boost....running a Mini-ram for intake,with ported AFR'S.

I figure I could first tune the motor N/A ..with low compression and a mild cam it would passs....then hook up the blower and tune that for power...when emissions roll around I just unhook the blower belt and run the N/A tune to pass ..after the test hook the blower back up an run the tune for it.

I want to make decent power...so is there a blower cam that can pass emissions and yet with enough boost make good power?

I'm new to forced induction...if the cam is mild can I just run more boost to make up for it?
It would be on a forged bootom end of course...

I think that's a good plan. A blower engine running N/A is similar to an "emissions" setup. The engine will typically be low/mosest compression, and the cam will have a wide LSA like a stock cam does. Both will help with emissions.

There are lots of different cams out there for supercharger applications. If you want a good shot at passing emissions and working well with the blower I'd keep the intake duration under 220* @ .050 (about 10* more on the exhaust) and keep the LSA spec on the cam in the 114-115* range. The modest duration and wide LSA both keep OVERLAP to a minimum. That helps emissions by keeping unburnt hydrocarbons going striaght out the exhaust during the overlap period and also helps keep the boost from the blower going straight out the exhaust as well.

Thanks for the info...I have a bit of learning to do yet with forced induction....just want to build something that can run with some of the faster crowds out there and still pass the pesky emissions.

How well does MAF work with blowers? I know that the MAF has a limit to what it can read ,but from what I understand it can be compensated in the fuel tables. Any set-ups on here using a blower and MAF with good results?

Best route for the blower would be a 2-bar speed density setup. That way you wouldn't need an FMU or a BTM.

A 2-bar speed densitiy set-up..I would assume thats an aftermarket ecm then?
How well does the 730 ecm run with a blower set-up?

No oem. you can use a '730 or '749 with $58 or $60 code, and a bar map. repin the harness like a sy-ty.

Thats what I'm using, works well.

Thanks for your help anesthes...

I have a MAF set-up...I see that a repin on a 165 to the 749 is a bit invovled to say the least...however 730 to 749 seems fairly simple...My harness is getting old..it has cracks in wires to the injectors..ect.. I feel that it would benifit having a new harness anyway should there be troubleshooting.Would it be too much to pull out the 165 harness all together and install a repined 730 harness/749 ecm? I saw a link on here for pinning a 730 to 749, but I'm starting from MAF...I figure I would build the motor then when I swap it..swap the harnesses too..should not be a big deal with no motor in the car.
just need to figure out the diffrent sensor locations/relays for the 730 harness..again the project is down the road so I'm just trying to learn all I can.
