adding Super Charger to Carbed 350

hey guys, i've ditched the idea of nitrous and wanna run a supercharger. it'll be going on just a carbed 350 4-bolt main. I know I will need forged pistons and rods. What will I have to do to give it enough fuel, I'm running a manual pump.

This is just a project car, so i'm open to ideas, but how much fabrication is involved in doing such a swap.

I'm wanting to go with somthing like this "Weiand 177 Pro Street Supercharger" so I don't go too big, just an extra kick in the pants. what else should I do while i'm at the upgrading. This ain't no daily driver so its alright if it gets messy, I'm wanting this car to be one of those "barely legal" cars.

Thanks fo the help if you need anymore info lmk.

I would suggest a forged crankshaft as well with a blower.

its just putting out like 6 psi, only a 25-40%increase in power, a good cast crank can take around 650 horse up to and maybe beyond 6000RPMs.

I would agree with a turbo or even nitrous, but you are tensioning the belt with the snout of the crankshaft with a blower. If you are building an engine from the ground up you might as well do it right.

I found a good forged crank for 400, i think i'm gonna go with that over cast. How about the fuel system?

hey man, that link didn't work for me.

BTW i heard that 6-8 psi is ok for hypertectic pistons, is this accurate?

There are a lot of people running that kind of boost with stock LT1 motors, which have hyp. pistons. You dont have a big margin for error with hyp. pistons as far as tuning goes though.

the link worked this time. I'm not too worried about tuning, I'm pretty good at tuning on the carb, just gotta keep an eye on the A/R ratio. plus that knocks about 150 bucks off the build cost

I would opt for the forged pistons to be honest. A batch of bad gas or your distributor clamp loosening up is all it would take to toast your hyps.

yea, sounds like a good idea.

I figure I oughta do this right, 1 set of forged pistons is cheaper than 2 sets of hypes.

nobody has adressed the fuel issue, I don't think a OEM replacement pump will work will it?
