Diesel turbo help
Hey guys I have recently come across a Garret turbo from a 7.3L Ford diesel truck. I have a few specs but not certain to what it all means in the big picture, but i also wanna know what the name of this turbo is (T66, T60?) Can you tell me what the name of this turbo is and if its a decent single turbo for a 356 w/ a vortec stealth ram
turbo specs.
Hot side
70mm inlet
72mm~ outlet
A/R .84
Cold side
67mm inlet
64-65mm outlet
A/R 1.00
Can anyone give me a little background on this turbo and what its best used for (ex high hp, low rpm peak tq etc.) I am looking to buy this core soon if it seems to be an ok turbo for a good single turbo set-up.
thank you
Jason

There is a guy on this board that has a junk yard set up using one of those turbos. Its a white z. Not to be an *** but just scrole throught the poweradder page. You should be able to find it. Also you might get some more info from www.turbomustangs.com.

It’s a garret tp38 or gtp38, depending on what it actually came off of. Not sure what you really want to know, flow wise it’s probably similar to something like a T60 or so and is a bit of a hassle to use because if its specialized oil inlet and outlet on the same flange rather then one on top and the other on the bottom.

OK cool thanks guys. Its actually came off of a 2000 7.3L diesel powerstroke ford F450.
I guess what I would like to know is if it is a turbo worth using on a single turbo project on a 356? Also what Im looking for but cant find are compressor maps for this turbo.
Crossfire--thanks for that info on the oil system I wasnt aware of that. I wasnt the one that pulled it off so I didnt know how the oil system was hooked up. I've also come to notice that it doesnt seem have the ability to be clocked so I may have a rough time finding a proper location for it.
NeedforSpeed---Dude I havent seen you for a long time...I finally have come to the dark side...Send me an e-mail or PM telling me about the latest on your camaro!

grover I couldnt find the guy that you said had this turbo can u help me find his post?
Is this a worthy turbo for a 356 looking to get 500-550 rwhp? Should I go bigger?
I am not liking the idea of not being able to clock this turbo. there are not many ways this turbo will fit under my hood. What are some alteritive turbos I could use to see my power potential?
Goals I have for the car
single turbo set-up
500-550 rwhp
low 11's to high 10's in the 1/4
93 octane
intercooled or meth. injection
some street driving
