Supercharging vortec heads
Im building a 383 street motor and I really like the torque and price of the vortec heads. I currently have a vortech s-trim and I was wondering your take on blowing these heads. I want my peak torque to be around 4000 rpms. I really dont care about hp, but Im wondering if the heads would destroy the supercharger's efficiency after 4500 rpms. I bought the supercharger to wake up my 305 until I can get back to the states and build the 383. I would like to have at least 500 lb ft. What do you guys think? I figured this would be a popular subject, but ive found nothing.

I found an article at chevyhiperformance.com with a very similiar setup. 569 hp 551 ft lbs! If anyone is interested, here is the link. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...0411ch_huffin/

I say go ahead and do it. You have nothing to loose. The heads will flow with boost bo matter what heads they are.

I should have even more than that. I found another test where they made 460 hp and 500 ftlbs with the stock heads, right at the rpms I want too. The heads seem to be real picky about its cam. So I should be at 600/600. Damn, you cant beat these heads for the street. I like your setup, killer. All you did to that carb was change the floats? What kind of power are you making with that 305?

I also had to jet the carb down on primaries and up on secondaries. Tuning it took some patience. I am still fine tuning it with a wideband. As far as power, I still have not taken it to the local dyno cause I am breaking in the new clutch and fly. I know I am at least putting down 400 hp at the wheels and tq should be up there. The torque is montrous. I currently have tration problems. I have raced some LS1's and have about 3-4 cars on them. I rape them on top end. Nobody believes me thats its a built up 305. They all think its a stroker or 400.The heads are fine with the boost. I just ported the hell out of the exhaust side so that the exhaust comes out smoother and faster for the turbo. For the price, these heads are cheap hp. Go for it.
