My NX kit came today and I was out in the garage trying to figure out what shape bracket needs to be fabricated to put the bottle in the spare tire well.

I then thought, "someone should build and sell brackets to put a bottle back here". I hope you're right and someone makes them.

Thanks man, that's exactly what I was looking for.

I'm sure I could build one cheaper but if I spend all my garage time fabbing stuff I can buy, I'll never get the car assembled.

Thanks again for the link.

Nitrous Bracket

I looked this upmon 860 Performance. It says for 93 and up models. Has anyone actually used this on a 3rd Gen?

Well, in my constant plot to do battle with my own logic, I made up a cardboard template to build my own bottle bracket.

I got to looking at the 860 bracket and from what I could tell, it is only supported on one side (by the frame rail). The one I'm building will also bolt to the spare tire bracket so it's supported on both sides.

Excuse the mess. I haven't cleaned the inside since it came back from paint.

I use those NX stainless steel bottle brackets and have my bottle in my spare tire well... easy as pie to mount and is very sturdy.

Other Side?

Can this be installed on the other side instead of the spare tire location? In the "Glove Box" area?

It could be, but I don't think the nitrous bottle would fit through the glovebox door hole. The plastic on the driver's side is one piece from hatch to driver's door & it would suck to remove it every time you want to fill your nitrous bottle.

Oh, I've got this fabbed-up now, I'll shoot a pic and post it.

Here it is- just sitting in place for now. I made the cardboard template and took it to a local welding/fab shop to build it. Yeah, I wish I would've bought the one from 860 performance. This one cost about $20 more and it's not even painted.

It's a good project if you have the means to do it yourself though.

looks good kevin, now just hit it with the .99 rustoleum semi-gloss and you're set.

I'd suggest making a cardboard template to suit your particular car. With GM's notorious production tolerances, what fits my car may very well be different than what would fit your car.

It took me 5 minutes to make my template once I knew what basic shape it needed to be.
