nitrous?? on a 3.1L

I have a 1990 camaro 3.1L v6 (stock). I was wondering if it is safe to run nitrous? where would be the safest place to put it?
how much of a HP increase would I see?

My main goal is to beat my friends stock civic(manual).I accelerate quicker from start but he catches up and beats me.
How can I beat him?

I had a 3.1 on my camaro and never saw a nitrous kit for it, however i did see a supercharger for it(paxton) and in stock trim the 91 camaro 3.1 with a paxton supercharger ran low 15's. Im not sure your interested in the blower but i know of a place that sells aftermarket heads and cams for the 3.1's install those u should be in the 13's bigger injectors with a 3.1 ud be in the v-8 area.

oops didnt explain it clearly. What i meant is if u install the heads, cam and the supercharger u should be in the high 13's with the injectors.

You'd be safe to run nitrous on the 3.1.. I don't know what the limits are with the 3.1 though. My 2.8 Fiero ran great on a 75 shot, but the engine had some serious problems afterwards. I'd run a simple wet shot if it's a temporary install, and keep it below 100 hp. Jet it a little rich, make sure you have a new or recently replaced fuel filter. You can tap the fuel feed right off the fuel injector rail. I wouldn't shoot the nitrous on a 3.1 below 2500-3000 rpm.
