hey guys, been doing reshearch in this turbo thing, well i guess turbo can only be used for fuel injection motors, or can a custom intake be made to fit on a carb would that do the same thing, sorry for sounding dumb, but kinda new to the turbo subject, got a 455 pontiac motor im getting built to drop in my 86z well im going to run into problems with the hedders anyhow since noone makes that swap so why not go up and back into the engine, ????? dont know you guys are the experts what you think , allso in the june issue of hotrodding, a guy built a buick gsx twin blower 430ci pontiac i think, anyhow pretty cool looking engine

with a 455 in a thirdgen...you'll have enough problems with headers alone for N/A. a thirdgen wouldn't be the right choice for a turbo project. it can be done with a carb..but you need a bigger engine bay with more room.

Ehh I bet it could be done..but he will need custom headers. Yeah a carb turbo setup can be done, either draw through or blow through. There have been posts on the subject here, I suggest you run a search.

No problem with room in a 3rd gen. Just find a damned good fabricator. I also own a 1987 T/A with a Ram Air III 400 from a '69 GTO. While the engine was slightly taller, it wasn't much wider than a small-block Chevy. Custom fab some headers, rejet the secondaries for BIG fuel, and go play. Careful with your timing...

Carefull, you are going to end up with something like I got. every time you goto do something else you call up the Tech line & when the tech says what do you have you have to give him a 10 minute speech on the years & motors that all your stuff's came out of. Then he says yea, we can do that but it will cost you twice as much as the guy with the fatory IROC or Rustang. BUT, if you ask me that it was makes our cars different than all the rest of them.

72BuickGSX: TPI-style Poncho intakes are a breeze. Use an Offenhauser dual-quad intake, install fuel rails, and fab a "mailbox upper. Done. There is a place in Wisconsin called Pontiac Performance Engineering that sells complete EFI Pontiac setups. Converted EFI Torker manifolds, EFI Warrior manifolds, tunnel rams, etc. See if you can find them. Good luck.
