I know you guys had a bit of a problem with tossing the belt when just cranking it over at startup.I have this too.I dont rembember which way it threw your belts but mine is comming off the back of the pully towards the motor.I dont run the spacer that was supplied, but I am thinking the 1/8 crank trigger is my problem and I need to shave down the spacer a 1/8.What do you think? Thanks

The belt throwing problem is not related to crank or blower pulley spacing. It is an alignment issue between the lowest idler and the crank pulley. The way I solved the problem was to install a fairly thin washer on the upper bracket bolt (to the head). This "pulls" the lowest idler towards the engine slightly, aligning it with the crank pulley. By aligning, I do not mean it centers it, but makes its surface parallel to the crank pulley. Hope this makes sense.

Darren,
I too had that problem, though my belt was coming off the front(toward the radiator), I notched out a thin 3/8" stainless steel washer and loosened up the bracket bolts and just slid the washer between the bracket and spacer (on the bolt going into the cylinder head). I first tried a thick washer but the belt was popping off the pulley toward the the engine.
I would first install that .780" spacer in the lower idler, then see if the belt is still coming off.
Are you using the pulley shim??? .200" thick if i remember correctly...
Also didn't you have a custom pulley made for the crank? it does sound like maybe your crank trigger is throwing your alignment out of whack...
