New Nitrous on an old motor

What are the thoughts on sticking a 180HP Shot of N2O on a bone stock, 160K, L98?

Motor came from a 125K Firebird I purchased with little known history and transplanted after the car was totaled. Intake leaks a little coolant but the engine runs great.

I'd recommend trying to find some used nitrous to run on that motor.

All joking aside though, I wouldn't start off running too large of a shot, especially since you know next to nothing of the engine's history. Maybe it would be worthwild to take some time to get under the heads and oil pan to see the real condition of the engine.

A rod will come through the side of the block. But video tape it when you push the button!! I bet it would last 3 sprays at least.

Well guys, the motor now has 178,000.00 miles on it. I've run about 20 bottles through it. Best time so far 12.81 1/4 mile. I'm happier than a pig in dodo. I recommend N2O for all!

Oh yea, oil has 60K miles on it, if it keeps giving me such a great ride, I may break down and give it some fresh oil.

Im gonna have to call bs on a 160K motor taking 20 bottles of 180hp shots. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.... and 60k on the same oil at the same time? not even believable.

If setup and used properly I don't see why it wouldn't handle it.

What size are the bottles?
Is that really 60K miles on the oil? Does it burn it quick enough that it appears to the engine like it is getting oil changes at 6K miles?

I like seeing old engines turning 9 to 12 second 1/4 times. It really upsets the high buck engine guys turning the same 1/4 mile times. Good job.

What is the cost of a lb of N2O? It may be time to start thinking super or turbocharger if you like the extra HP. It may be cheaper in the long run.

10# bottles, a lot of it spent working up to 180 +/- 10HP depending on whose numbers you use.
I run Amsoil 0W-30 and just change the filter every 7-12K Miles, been doing it for 18 years on all my vehicles without a single lubrication type falure. I hate changing oil so I don't. I add what the filter takes and about a quart every once in a great while.

Cost of a bottle is $30-$35. I'm building another car with bells and whistles but wanted to play in the meantime. It may well be cheaper in the long run but it's easier to cough up $35 three or four times a month than $3000-$4000 all at once. And too, when I'm not planning on gassing it, I can still run regular unleaded (cheaper) gas.

My son and I made a three week road trip to Ohio and back this summer, took the bottle out to free up luggage space and had a real pleasant ride.
