Turbo kit on ebay?!CHEAP

eBay Motors: CHEVY SB 283-400 CAMARO FIREBIRD DUAL TURBO KIT (item 150051878238 end time Nov-03-06 11:00:05 PST)

That kit was found on ebay. I was curious. Does anyone know if this is for real or a bogus *** scam? I am not too familiar with "kits" for our cars but I would be damn interested if it looks on the level..
Thanks ahead guys

the only things i heard work from them are the intercoolers, blow off valves, and wastegates.

there are a couple of posts about their turbos, i'd take a look.

It says the wastegates are set at 14.5PSI. That would blow up a stock camaro engine without larger injectors. Even an FMU wouldn't work in that app.

It says the turbos handle 450HP each. Then says that it is a 450-525HP kit. (at 14.5PSI???)

The turbo numbers are not real. Lookup Garrett part numbers and you will quickly see that thier numbers do not make sense.

Overall, it is a typical SSAC Ad that have turbo figures that do not coincide with any known turbo manufacturer. It is made up stuff that preys on people that don't know about turbo stuff. It is the Wal-mart brand of turbos. Like Wal-mart stuff, it will last a short time before falling apart. Sure you will get a bunch of parts but will not fit properly and will break soon after you pay to have them modified to fit.

Stick with KKK, Borg Warner, Garrett, Holset, Master Power if you want anything that is reliable.

Yeah, those turbos are crap. Some of the fools in my 240sx clubs have bought them and they seem to last somewhere between 5 minutes and 1 year, with about 2 weeks being the average. ssac turbos are ****. They are not manufactured properly and often are chopped and welded together from other turbos to get the right sizing Then they blow up and the engine eats the pieces. Stay far away.

I saw this ad and have read all about how bad SSAC is so I figured I would question them a little bit. They advertise their kit for fitting a 82-92 camaro, I have a 83 Z so I asked them about power steering and whatnot and the only thing they wrote back was "this will not fit your make and model of car" obviously they dont know what they are doing. After that I sent them an e-mail stating that they should look at how they advertise. Now I understand what everyone was talking about.

Yup, those are good too. Add Precision to the list. Pretty much anything is good except for SSAC / XS-Power / no-name brand.

For all those interested in the kit, check out a real Garrett GT3076 unit and compare it to the no-name knock off unit. SSAC works off of hoping people don't ask questions and just buy their stuff because it looks like a "good deal". Then the stuff either breaks or is attempted to be re-sold on ebay months / years later.

"Cheap" and "turbo kit" don't go together. Or least they shouldn't go together. I've seen some of thier trash turbos before. The compressor housing was glued together...yes, GLUE.

I agree with ya bro! I was gonna buy a friends turbo's and get some headers for my Z to make the kit work. I too looked into these headers and heard nothing but bad things about this company. I emailed them to ask a few simple questions regarding installation and also, if the headers are made to fit D port heads. I got some autoresponce, nothing more. End of discussion if ya ask me! I would not even take these headers for free!........well maybe for free. Thanks but no thanks!

The headers aint too bad... The turbos are junk though..

We just did a JY TT porject on my dad's 327 powered '82 firebird and used the SA headers, Junkyard T3's, homemade piping and air hat, etc

The headers do fit if you mod a few things here and there. We had to re route the power steering pressure hose.

He's been running his (daily driver) for about 6-7 mo. now and no cracking of the headers yet.

Here's some of the pics
