Turbo map and my specs not looking right

I have found several sites and have picked the following turbo for my application:

Spec: Single gasoline non-intercooled
Engine Capacity: 5800 cc
Max RPM: 5400
Turbo Boost: 8

Make: Garrett
Type: T04
Compressor: V1
Trim: P
Turbine Trim A/R: .96

When i check the map of the turbo against the VE of the engine and the VE of the turbo my point (at WOT) is ant the lower right hand portion of the graph. When i change the VE's (as what happens during various RPM) i still can't get the point to be where it should on the graph! I am only going to run 8# of boost on a non built up block by the way.. well, it depends on if i find a block for the right price. Have i mis matched the turbo for the engine or am i not inputing the data correctly?

I think a .96 ar is quite huge if you're only going to be running 8 psi. Just my opinion.

Thats what i thought. What about the rest of the specs? I beleive i can get a similar turbo with all the same specs with a smaller AR. Would that help with my mapping problems?

More boost? Anyone have a forged shortblock or parts they want to sell?

You can always get an adjustable external wastegate (you should have to anyway I think) and keep the boost turned down. At least untill you decide you wanna blow this motor and get a new one.

As far as wastegates go... i can't seem to find one that has a wide range of adjustment. They seem to run 7-9 psi and then 10-15 or so. Is there one that runs from 5-10 or even 5-15.. or is it a matter of buying the right spring rate?
