which brand for nitrous?

what do you guys recommend? I'd like something that's adjustable upto about 175-200. I know I want a window switch, bottle heater, and maybe a remote opener(if I get some stickier street tires). I don't know dry/wet just that dryer safer, wetter better. Should I buy a kit from someone, or buy it piece by piece? What all should I look for, and how much am I looking to spend? I have an '87 IROC L98 TPI. Over christmas I am rebuilding it with forged pistons(maybe some rods too if I find some used ones for cheap), headers, rebuilding heads, 1.6 roller rockers, and a SLP hydraulic roller cam. What do you guys think?

One more thing, can you run a LT1 dry kit on TPI?

I like and run Nitrous Express Kits (carb application). They make one for your TPI application,a friend of mine runs it on his 88 T/A,it is a 50-200 shot. I would recommend you get a kit or purchase the components you want from one manufacturer, its better to keep it all the same then mix and match. You are probably looking somewhere between $600-$1000 for what you are looking into. You have most of the bases covered but also look into a purge solenoid for it if your going this far with it,no gas in the line means a better juice hit !! As far as the interchange with the LT1 kit i cannot say for lack of experience with the injection kits but i would guess NO.Hope this helps, good luck

A TPI kit by NX should run you around $475 to $500.
Their Gen-x accessory kit has a fuel pressure safety switch & fitting, a nitrous filter, a nitrous bottle pressure gauge & fitting, a bottle heater and a pressure operated heater controler for about $250 or so.
I'm not sure what the remote bottle opener costs but it is one of the best ones out there. Most companies remote "openers" are just another nitrous solenoid that goes in line. They do not seal 100% and will leak off nitrous if you don't close the bottle valve when you are done. They also restrict ntrous flow and can cost horsepower.
The NX remote bottle opener is just that. It is a motor that opens and closes the bottle valve.

All I can say is don't buy a nos system. Email me if you need specifics. Also, Irocz4me is correct about the bottle opener except "that they restrict nitrous" which isn't true at anything under 300. Again, stay away from the nos remote valve, I should have.

I would only recommend NOS. I am currently using a three stage NOS (dry) plate kit on my car(1989 Formula 350). I'm juicing it 225 HP. NO JOKE! Buy the kit made for your car from NOS. Their tech department is the most knowledgeable compared to other companies.

How are you running 225HP. Can't be with the plate that came with the 5151 kit can it? I really really need to know. How fast is your car?

wow, i know from experience that the tech. dept. at nos is pathetic at best. According to the previous post that doesn't say much about the other companies.

The kit I am running is the 3 stage plate kit. First stage-75hp Second stage-150hp Third stage-225hp....On a street radial NOT a drag radial, I'm running 11.70 at 126 mph. I haven't tried to run it on a slick yet. The rear end won't handle it with slicks. Over the winter I am going to order a 12 bolt from Strange Engineering.

The ZEX kit designed for the Mustangs will work on our cars, but I don't like that fact that it doesn't pull any timing out when the Nitrous is induced into the engine. It pulls fuel enrichment through adding more pressure on the fuel pressure regualtor. Recently, I've personally seen a few cars w/ a 125 HP ZEX pop a motor. I have spent much time and money to only have my brand new motor grenade. I've been looking at TNT's kit for our cars. It looks really well thought out, but I want to investigate it more. Nitrous Express is the other company I am looking at as well. This was just my .02

86 IROC, I have heard through the grape vine that the guy that started TNT used to work in the shipping dept of NX.

Kinda makes me think of the old Johny Cash tune about building his car "one piece at a time".

Stock 350,

Where do I get that three stage system? How is it injected? Plate? Fogger nozzels? Are you running a beefed short block? What are all your mods? What size line are you running from your bottle? Thanks
