looking at 83 z28 with banks twin turbo, info?
A lil while ago i was out in the country near my grandma's house when i saw this cherry red z28 sittin next to a barn, so i go and ask the guy if i can take a look at it, the whole car looks really nice and the interior is awesome and i noticed a gauge that says boost, so i pop the hood and it's got twin freaking turbos!it looks like a banks setup but i'm not sure, it hasn't been run in a while, but if i can get it to fire i can buy it for $4k. Anybody got any pics or documentation to help me identify the turbo setup, thanks a lot.

If that's the real McCoy, you've found yourself a rare bird. Why don't you call Gale Banks and ask them? I'm sure they would tell you more. The kit, from the info I had gathered, is a complete drive train including engine/exhaust and cost in the area of $20,000+.
IMO, even if it's not a GB, $4k still seems to be a decent price. If you can't start it what would the price be?

Incidently, I'm pretty sure the kit was intended for a carberated (LG4, 4bbl) configuration. So if the car has a TPI/TBI, then it couldn't be a GB setup.

ok, i just saw that picture or the banks tt motor in another thread and it lookd exactly the same, even that plenum on top of the carb, the car originally had crossfire and externally is unchanged except for two 3" pipes coming out of the back abd it's lowered 2" all the way around, i'm heading down there this weekend and i'm gonna grab some photos while i'm there. I'll try and get more infor for you guys too. I REALLY want this car, it's like the ultimate sleeper

DAMM DUDE!! That's a nice lookin motor.
It's official, in 1 month i will be the proud owner of a 83 Z28 with a Banks twin turbo setup, popped the hood and saw the plenum again and i knew for sure... The only thing i need to do is get the block bored and put in new pistons/rings, anything you guys would suggest?? I've never had a turbo now i'm getting the motherlode, so any suggestions would be great, thanks a lot...

ya, thanks, i feel really lucky to have found it and being only 19 i have a lot of time left to make it really fast.
Does anybody have any schematics or diagrans of all the systems in the GB setup? I'm gonna be tearing the whole thing apart and rebuilding everything i can, i don't want anything failing on me...
Also and suggestions for what else i should do to the car, I want to get custom badges that say "5.7 Twin Turbo" I'm going to make this a very bold looking car so any ideas would be great, thanks...
