single turbo using half of the engine

turbo only one side of the engine and exhaust!

idea:
- low pressure system
- exhaust much simplier, since only 4 cylinders are involved
- cheap?

i think i've seen like this saab v6 engines or maybe it was just a proto.

question:
would this affect air/fuel ratio on the other side since back pressure is not equal?

i bet one(half) "2.8" engine is enough to feed turbo and engine when just low pressures are needed.

It WILL work and has been done before, but it's not a good way to do it.

Yea I should clarify, it can be done but will suck compared to a full exhaust driven turbo

Yeah, Saab uses like 3 cylinders to run a turbo off of. The turbo feeds all the cylinder, but only spools up on 3.
Works for them, don't see why it wouldn't work 4 us.

Some of the Saabs had inline 5cyls to, but you dont see a lot of those running around either.

That is an Audi with 5 slugs. The only real odd ball SAAB engine was their three-cylinder two-cycle engine produced in the early '60s.

BTW, the V6 1/2 turbo was a piece of ¢rap!!

Why go thru all the trouble for a half-a$$ job.
