Tell me why I am wrong

What if you had some sort of an automatic clutch on the input?drive?(one of those)shaft of the turbo that enguaged when the turbo spooled up to a specific rpm? It could drive a centrifical(sp?) blower. Does this seem like a fesible idea? It just seems like there is this shaft spinning at an ungoddly RPM that is not being used..Please refrain from replying with just "HAHAHAHAHAHAH"

Do you seem to get that response often? Maybe it should be telling you something about the types of questions you always ask! I, for one, have no friggin clue WTF you are asking...

do you know how a turbo works? That shaft is used...to drive a centrifugual turbine or turbo. Thats the principle of the thing, am I missing something here?

let me get this straight..you want to have a "mad max" style clutch adapted to the shaft of a turbocharger and somehow engauge a centrifical style blower? correct?

if correct, in a word...no

Someone once looked at the spinning crank pulley on a motor and said "well that sure is a waste" I was just thinking along the same lines..I asked why it wouldn't work.. I am nothing short ecstatic that Biochem and Blockhead have suceeded in channeling their homoerotic frustrations through an electronic medium. And for their valor, I do salute them. That aside, a crank is doing something..so is the pulley..and a forced induction system was modeled in a way that it could take advantage of this. It just seemed to me that it may not be outlandish to wonder if something similar could be fashioned to take advantage of the shaft spinning at 100k RPM. Try and be constructive with your replies..If you need to write a reply just to prove you can use the literal skills learned in pre-school in a technical environment, please do so elsewhere. Thank you

First a turbo isnt designed to have a load put upon it. Second it is precisely balanced. Hooking up some sort of clutch to one will not only kill its rpms (eg boost) when engaged but how to apply a clutch at +50K rotation. I suggest you learn about the differnces between turbos and blowers and how they operate..cheers Bob
