ADJUSTABLE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
I was going to buy an AFPR for my 90 GTA with the 5.7 TPI,probably the one from TPIS.But now I have seen on other websites where some people say it is hard to get it set right, and talking about changing timing to get it right. Is this true,I just want to be able to increase the preasure for performance when I go to the track.Any and all info will help,THANX!

Welcome!
Its simple....
Buy a fuel pressure gauge and check what pressure you have now, then just replace the it with a adj.one and set it to the old pressure. You dont have to worry about timing.
I think you will have to remove the plenum to mount it but its not difficult.
There are alot of adj.reg. that are cheaper than TPIS......

i have installed the unit ur talking about... piece of cake, and I just verified it again with an Auto Meter electric gauge... btw, do NOT purchase an Auto Meter mechanical gauge. They are inaccurate, they're tech reps kno it, and they are steering ppl to electric gauges. I had to return mine after much heartache. You DO have to remove the vacuum line that attatches to the regualtor though when you set the pressure with the car idling... don't forget this. Also, puchase a fuel pressure gauge at any Autozone or Adv. Auto first, and take a baseline reading of ur pressure bfor u adjust it (they cost about $30). U can do this by attaching it directly to the Schrader valve on ur fuel rail. U decore the Schrader valve on ur fuel rail with a device you can purchase at the parts store also when u are ready to install the adj. press. regulator.

Thanx for the info!!I will definetly be getting the AFPR.jethro, you said you ran a 13.92,what pressure were you running?I know you said stock motor, have you done any mods at all, because I would say that is pretty good!I have a K&N filter,Hypertech chip,Bosch platinum+4 plugs,Accel cap, rotor&wires and dual cats(hollowed out).Best time is 14.53,I am hoping for low 13's with the AFPR and an airfoil,I will also port the plenum,or have TPIS do it.
dude...you arent going to break into the 13's w/ just an AFPR and air foil if you are running about a half second off that mark already. Let alone "low" 13's. but, to help you get there set the FP at 50 psi on a 350 motor...Im not sure about the 305 motor and havent looked at your sig yet BTW

chevyboy,so your saying it is possible with the 350? I have a loud mouth 92 mustang owner at work that I need to quiet down,by stomping him!!

unless your car is running very poorly, then just putting on a air foil and AFPR isn't giong to help all that much, you might gain another 1 or 2 tenths in the 1/4.

so,how is jethro running a 13.92 stock with an 87 IROC with an AFPR? I thougt that the 90's had bigger injectors and I know that they have more H.P. than the 87 350's.I also plan on porting the plenum,I have heard this will free up some more power.Any thing that anyone can suggest for a better e.t. will help,I know headers would make a big difference but can't really afford them right now.THANX!

1990GTA...I'm not saying you will go 13's b/c it's just not too feasable. I am saying however....that my pretty much stock L98 Camaro runs ALL OVER ANY 5.0 mustang around wether slightly modded, stock or decently modded. I kill these guys all night. I am a believer that you will crush even a bolt on 5.0 I run against them and there mods are like: headers, pullys, gears, CAI, chips, etc. With all these mods I still walk them, nasty...they are 5 spds too! Get the Fp regulator...it helps torque outr A LOT. You can get 30+ RWTQ from a goos pressure set

jethro, sounds like a good setup you have going there! That's pretty much the direction I had planned on,some good performance bolt on's and some tranny work. Thanks for the replies.chevyboy07 91,the guy with the stang I mentioned is taking his car to the track tonight,I have to work,so I won't be going.Anyway ,I will find out what he is running,I know he just put a cam in it and 4.10 gears,he also has headers and big fat sticky tires!
