Where did you locate your O2 sensor in relation to the turbo? Heated or non-heated? Thanks!

i had to switch to a 3 wire heated o2 sensor.its about 3 inches away from my turbo in the downpipe.the single wire o2would not get hot enough to read right.
would always read lean even though the motor was dead rich

Always after the turbo on the downpipe due to pressure differentials. Use a heated O2. There is not enough heat is 90% of the turbo apps for a non-heated unit.

Thanks guys! You always learn something new every day. I did not know this about the O2 sensor. I've been having major driveability problems since installing my turbos. I'm getting conflicting information. In open loop, the AFR is between 12 to 14:1 and runs fine. But once in closed loop, my BLMs indicate a rich condition but my WB O2 says I'm running very lean (18:1). The throttle response is gone, the idle surges, etc.
Now I believe it's due to my O2 sensor placement. Not knowing about the correct location, I put it near the stock position, on my downpipe close to the oil filter! It's probably two feet downstream of the turbo. Since then, I have replaced the one-wire with a heated unit hoping to solve the problem but saw no improvement. Is this because of a lack of heat to the sensor, even though it's heated? How does pressure play into all this? Do my symptoms indicate this as a possible cause? Thanks again guys!

Here is where I put mine. I used a 3-wire heated O2 sensor. The readings were stable and seemed accurate.

After the turbo. The huge pressure differences before the turbo mess with how the 02 molecules are forced through the sensor ceramic, and will cause readings to vary with the different backpressures at different boost levels.
