Getting H20 injection to come on at certain boost w/ stock MAP

Okay, I'm about 90% sure how to tackle a RMT. One of the few things left to figure out is getting an H20 injection system to work. What I am doing is the mechanical route, meaning stock memcal no prom burning. It can be done and I have been asking the Turbo Jedi about it.

But I can't figure out how to rig an H20 injection system to come on at a certain psi without the use of a 2-bar map and custom prom. Is there a way to do it mechanically easily?

Is there a way to time it? Or could I use a 2-bar map without prom burning?

What about in conjunction with an FMU? Is that possible?

Some people refer to these mechanical switches as a Hobbs switches. It works just like an oil pressure switch. They close at 5PSI or higher depending on the model.

Close at 5spi? Shouldn't it open, again I have little clue about terminology. How hard is it to rig up? I was thinking 3-4psi when it would open......or close depending on what you meant.

Something like this.

eBay Motors: Boost Pressure switch turbo water injection 1-25 psi (item 120021007388 end time Aug-25-06 16:17:34 PDT)

They sense boost and close an electrical switch when a certain boost level is acheived. The elec. switch supplies power or ground to the Water injection pump.

Does that hose connection go to a vacuum line?

Yes, the hose barb connects to a vacuum line at the intake manifold. It senses boost and closes the electrical switch when boost exceeds the level you adjusted the switch to. The electrical switch turns on the H20 pump (switch closes).

You can probably use one of these:

My snow performance Meth/water kit came with a pressure switch....BTW 3-4psi is probly too early...I tried starting that early and it ran like poop and it was hard to get the boost to build as fast..(I think the call it quenching the cylinders).....on at 6-8psi is perfect in my car....but they are all different and you will figure it out..I currently have mine switching on @ 8psi and it pulls like no other and allows me to push it to 15psi.

OlBlue: I have the same kit from Snow Perf. (stage 2 kit)... do you have a IAT gauge? if so, what are your temps before/after injecting? what are you injecting? just water?

No, I do not. I will say this tho...before after a hard run the plenum was hot to the touch when I laid my hand on it...now It not really even warm after injecting. I am running -20 washerfluid with great succes. hopefully I'll be getting dyno number in septemberwith and without the meth/water injection

When we were trying to fine-tune (right before my procharger exploded, lol) after a hard run my plenum would be at least ambient if not cooler. I was AMAZED at the impact the stuff has. and like Ol' Blue my kit (Devil's own) came with a pressure switch, I had mine coming on at 5-6 psi. Didn't get a chance to fine-tune it hough....

Ahh well, next year it will have a turbo and things will be different

Run a true alcohol setup.

Dont waste time with water and washer fluid.

One decent time in cool/cold weather and you will remember me saying this.

U were warned.

Razor/Julio has some nice stuff. Look it up under Alkycontrol.com

later

Yes, the amount that is injected needs to vary with engine/ambient temps.

How much meth/water were you injecting to cause the problem and what was the ambient temp and IAT temp?
