Dual intank pumps inside

Here are some pictures off what I have done......

The second pump will start at about 4psi of boost.

Some notes.

* The pumps must be mounted as I did and rotated as I did otherwise you wont get them in the tank.

* The Fuel level sender has to be apart when putting the pumps in.

* The electrical conector on one of the pumps must be disconnected when lowering the pumps down, as you rotate the unit.

* When the pumps are halfways down you can mount the fuel sender and the connector again.

Stock pump has stock wiring.

No2 pump has a fusible link direct from the battery to a relay, the relay is controlled by a adj. boost switch. I placed the relay on the bottom of the B-pillar.

Then a small diod that tells me when the switch is activated.

Nice. Why does your FP gauge show 80psi?

Nice job! Which pumps did you go with, and how is the 2nd pump wiring sealed where it passes through the tank cap? It's tough to tell from the picture. Will you be changing to a larger fuel feed line (from the stock 3/8")? I'm planning on this same mod, since my fuel pressures are dropping off at anything greater than 10 psi boost (currently compensating with larger pulsewidths in the fuel map).

Pumps are Walbro 340SS ( I think) its the high pressure ones....

Right now its sealed with a rubber seal and some sealent. Didnt have stuff home to solder/tig weld a pipe in the lid, but will probably do that this winter.

I'm not sure if I need a bigger fuel line, a friend has a -95 z28 running dual walbro intanks and stock lines, runs 9.44.......But the 4'gen maybe has bigger lines?

Looks good. You could have also cut the ground wire at the pipe and soldered a piece to the top/cap. Then soldered another piece on the top of the cap and tied it to the ground wire at the chasis/plug ground.

Then use the dangling original wire for the second pump. No holes to drill and seal doing it that way. It does require soldering though.

Tried it today and it worked...... FP jumped up to 60psi so it went rich.

Question is when it would be best to start it? Its hard to tune if the FP goes up under boost..........

Re: Dual intank pumps inside

I'm curious if anyone else has done this and can post results. Just curious did it up being a good solution or did you come back, changing it out, and end up doing something different?
