Just wondering what everyone is running as far as carb setups and ignitions when they are running a 6-71 blower...

This motor I built for a friend is in the truck.....it has the same set up as mine except no RPM module (using the chips in the ign.box) and he has 600 CFM Carter carbs.

This motor which is a 8-71 we used 650 CFM Edelbrocks (since Edelbrock has discontinued the Carter carbs) also went with a MSD dist.

Wow, someone has some cash laying around! Nice toys

I love how you mounted the timing control right into the dash, Has a nice stock look to it!

As for the tach, can you even get your fingers between the weel and the tach? thats gotta be stickin out quite a ways...

The two trucks belong to friends of mine.......I was just helping them out.

There is plenty of room between the wheel and tach...just a bad angle in that pic

I pieced mine together myself. When people ask about what it is, I tell them it (the blower) came from an old dump truck.
I rebuilt an original GM unit and added BDS end housings and drive kit. I converted mine from carbs to a d.f.i'ed bug catcher. A light foot on the gas pedal makes it an easy driver, a lot different than having to really mash down to fully open dual Holleys. I like the flexability of the electronic system but tuning is really tedious. It's nice to be able to change rev limits, cooling fan activation/deactivation, timing curves, start retard and fuel mixture with the use of a lap top.
My basic electronics are always MSD.

Holley has specialty carbs for blower applications. Fuel enrichment is done with boost-referanced power valves, but I'm sure they are pricey compared to a regular HP series carb. MSD billet distributor and their BTM is the best ignition combo, and the addition of a start retard is usually a good idea too.

If I was to build another "true" blower system, I would run dual carbs. DFI is cool, but you can't go wrong keeping it simple.

Do you plan on installing a system in your car?

Dang Flirt, that's sweet. Nice work.

I would sure love to have a blower sitting ontop of my motor one day but i dont know if that will be anytime soon...

I dont think it will fit in the budget for the next few years!

I think for now im just going to stick to good 'ol cubes to get my power, im thinking of dumping my new 357 for a 400 and go from there...
