Head Gasket for Vortech S/C
I ran into an interesting problem last year while driving my car around. I have been tuning the ECU trying to adjust the VE tables to help eliminate the over-rich situation on my car be cause I put 42# injectors in. The engine is a 1992 vette engine bored .030 over with forged everything and 1994 vette 58c aluminum heads.
What was happening was I noticed when I punched the throttle there was a noticeable cloud of white smoke coming from the exhaust. I just planned on pulling the heads and having them pressure checked and replacing the head gaskets. They tested out ok and I didn't notice any problems with the gaskets when I pulled them. I didn't see any spots where it obvious that there was H2O leaking into the cylinder. I now have to major question.
1.. Since the heads weren't cracked would it worth my time to have the block pressure checked to make sure one of the cylinders isn't snafu
2.. I also have new metal valve cover gaskets that I bought from summit racing and was wondering if I could use these. I am not 100% sure as they are dis-similar metals. Steel head gaskets and Aluminum heads. ??? Does anyone have any ideas?
