i Need direction...

i have started my 350 build and have been paying attention to what they guys at the local Dunkin' Donuts are running... every one of them has some rediculas aftermarket combo with heads and stroked stuff which was what i was thinking of doing.. then i realized that i hardly pay attention to them because all there cars are the same just in different packages...

So i am going to stuff a turbo on this 350 if it kills me or not.

i plan on a blownthrough with a stock Qjet...but a holley is available
so here goes with the Q

1 can a BOV be used to regulate Boost to say 5-6psi constantly? or does it dump all the boost before it can be repressurized?

2 if a BOV can be used to regulate boost would a wastegate still be required?

3 can timing be regulated with a stock type(non-CC) distrubuter for boost?

i apologise if you guys have had to answer these types of questions a million times but i have been searching and have been to turbomustangs.com and havent been able to get much acomplished...

the search timer should be turned down to 5-10 seconds 45 is rediculas...

1: The bov is not used to regulate boost, its there to vent pressure in the charge pipe when the TB is shut (off throttle) to keep back pressure of the turbo and keep it spooling, the wastegate is what regulates boost by bleeding off the amount of exhaust that goest through the turbine houseing (hot side of turbo) these can be internally or externally

2:see answer 1

3: yes you can retard the timing with the stock distributor, one of 2 ways(that i am aware of):
locking the timing out at the desired degrees by turning the distributor, or hooking up an msd boost retard box

another good site to get good info is www.turbomustangs.com they have chevy section and blowthrough sections very VERY helpful!
