Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

Hey guys i am putting a single turbo on my 357 my intake piping is probably going to go through both my battery tray positions so mostly to the twin turbo guys that have no battery trays where are you relocating your battery?I just want to figure this out before i cut a hole in both battery trays and start piping for my Intercooler!

It is probably pretty simple but just checking!Oh and what Guage wire are you running where if it is not near your engine compartment?

Thank you much for any input!

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

I'm not a turbo guy, but most put their batteries it the spare tire well in the trunk. Can't recall the name of the company, but I know someone makes a bracket to put the battery there. Hopefully someone else will chime in...

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

just put it in the trunk, I have mine mounted in the lower well portion of the hatch towards the right side slightly. You do need a battery disconnect switch as well if you plan on racing it.

mines going behind the driver's side hatch area panel (across from the spare tire well)panel, with the on/off switch getting mounted in the tail light and the recharge terminals going on a custom made panel behind the fuel fill door.

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

Hey ttypecamaro u got some pictures of your routing? i would really like to keep it in its stock location. The track near us has a rule "if the battery is not mounted in stock location it has to be vented" i am not sure how i would vent it in the trunk!besides you guys may have thought of routing i would have never considered!

Please and thank you!
Also thanks for all the ideas keep them comming if anyone has anymore!

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

Mine is going in the trunk.

I am going to use a battery box and drill a hole through the floor of the box and the floor of the car and put a small tube in there and let it fly.

That looks good, what power are you putting out with it? How hard was it to install?

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

thank you... a shade over 500hp@14psi... easy to install, but extremely difficult to fabricate... I need money to buy parts for my tranny and rear, so its for sale in the classifieds for cost of parts.

Here's how I routed my tubing to keep the battery up front. The intercooler is mounted right in front of the radiator.

Yeah, there's no charcoal canister or cruise control, along with other things I didn't feel like working around.

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

Hey calebzman does you intercooler to intake pipe go into the fender?or just cut pretty tight to the battery?cause that looks like something that will work for me!

Thanks!

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

It does not go into the fender area. The tubing pretty much follows the sides of the engine compartment. I'll get some pics for ya.

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

Wow!That looks pretty good!If i cut close enough to the fender i can still get the battery in from the looks of it!My intercooler intake and outlet are both on the bottom so i will have to go through the battery trays either way!Getting around the steering looks like a pain if i didn't do some cutting.Do you have any more good pics of all your routing at cardomain? If u do could u send or post me a link or even email me it?

At least i think u guys can check out my email address?!

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

both on the bottom? Flip it over and they're both on top, but I haven't seen your IC so maybe it doesn't quite work that way?

Re: Hey turbo guys wheres ur Battery?

Well i would flip it over but i will sill have to go through the body some where! The intercooler is in front of the radiator flush with the bottom radiator support.i will try to post some pics a little later but if i flipped it i do not think my bumper would go back on!lol!if it did i would not be able to have head lights and those are kind of a nacesity!lol!(I know i can't spell!)

Good thought though!
I will post some in a hour of two if i can figure it out!
