Preparing ECU of 3.1l for 8PSI boost

Hey Guys, Im fabricating a turbo setup for my 3.1l, how big do I have to go with the fuel injectors for 8 to 10 psi boost? And what do I have to do to the ecu, I got the jet stage 2 chip, is that enough?

The JET chip is useless for what you want to do.

You would probably best to start with TGP code (Turbo Grand Prix, NOT GTP), and change some of the ignition paramaters to match the use of a dizzy over the DIS that the TGP used. If you change to DIS, then the ignition settings would be fine. This code can be used in a '7730 ECM.

Injectors you should be able to use 24 lbs/hr for that level. the TGP used 22 lbs/hr and would run at 7 PSIG, with a max boost cut of 9.5 PSIG. The iron heads flow less than the genII aluminium heads of the TGP, so overall power in theory would be a bit less, though with a free flowing enough exhaust and even intake tract you should be able to match the same power level easily, if not surpass it with proper tuning.

Changing over to DIS is alittle to much for me to handle, I really dont have a good grasp on the basics of what's in there already, as for changing codes, you lost me there, could you explain it for dummies?

The Code is also called a BIN file. It has all the maps and parameters and is programmed onto the EEPROM (AKA "chip"). The ECM uses this along with the input from the sensors to control the "actuators" (injectors, IAC, EGR, etc).

This would be the way that the ECM would be "prepped" for boost.

If you really don't have a way of doing that or getting it done, then I would look at other means to tune it, such as using an FMU (Fuel Managment Unit) AKA RRFPR (Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator), and an MSD BTM or similar unit to control the ignition.

I would learn about tuning the ECM or find someone that can do it for you.
