will i benefit form porting my tpi?
with all my mods in sig + 1.6rr's. and the new purchase of a prochaqrger p1-sc ( bought over the weekend) how much would i benefit from fully porting my plenum slp runners and edelbrock lower? my main concern is 2-4k torque. im modding this car to be a blast on the streets, light to light and lots of tire roasting and sliding sideways ect.. so what im trying to say is, i dont want to loose any tq down low. but i also want to take full advantage of my supercharger. should i port the plenun and leave stock runners for this.. whats would be my most balanced intake combo? keep in my mind this car prob wont really see the track much. so i dont care much about a couple tenths in the 1/4. just a fun road warrior. thanx, dave...

^ Flow is extremely important when your looking to throw down some good numbers, and the velocity of the flow is just as, if not moreso, important....

I was reading Super Chevy last month, and I quote "98% of the people who port their engine do it improperly" If you know what your doing great and have a flow bench great, but if not I would let the pros do that. I would not want to screw up several thousands of dollars in my engine when I didn't know what I was doing

The short answer is, yes, you will benefit. You will benefit more in power % increase than you would if the car was not supercharged. Forced induction makes up for alot of the shortcomings of TPI, and opening it up just helps you cram more air into the heads. With all the power you'll be gaining with the blower, ported or not, you won't have any trouble frying tires...in fact you may find you have too MUCH low/mid range torque for street races, especially from a dig.

Re: will i benefit form porting my tpi?
I did my stock lower and slp runners and got a huge jump in power on my small cammed 383. I siameesed the lower in about 4 inches and opened up the ports as much as possible. Yours being aftermarket should have larger ports so just doing a siameese on it will give you about 800 to 1000 more rpm and you wont miss the torque you loose down low it is very minimal. I picked up over 3/4 of a sec in the quarter and 5 mph with adding the new lower to the set up. I now run a hsr in place of the home ported lower and upper with slp runners and am still down 2 mph in the quarter over the old set up. Still trying to work with tuning to find all this power I was expecting to get with the hsr. Car feels better and pulls harder up top but is slower. Cant break 114 with it so far and ran 116 all the time and a best of 118 with my old stuff. So I would say yes to porting the intake but not to get size but to let the engine pull from two runners at one time rather than one and what siamessing the intake does.
