what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
Well finally decided on a type of header and went at it. this gives me room for the down pipe and cross over to all fit(I hope) and mount the turbo in front of the over flow tank. Looking for comments before I weld it all the why up. GOing to cut the collector down a bit to give more clearance to the hood. One bolt will be a pain to tighten but all the rest seems pretty easy to deal with. Plus I used the second header from the kit and all the pipes when I cut it up and as you can see only had to join one to make it all work. Well the pics are under my other thread of building a single turbo header and have a question. I tried to upload them again and wont let me . How do I move the pics here? Until then you have to go to that thread to see it. Sorry only thing I could do for now to put them here. tried to get a image but no luck

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
all welded up and just have to add the collector. f you look at the pic with the two 2.5 pipes you can see plenty of room for the down pipe to shoot through where the smog pump was and go right under the header and out. I am pretty happy with it only took a few hrs and the rest of the pipe should be fairly easy. Waiting on the turbo to finish it up. Need to sell my old heads to cover the rest on it. So far looks as if all my a/c will be ok with a slight moving of the lines. I will wrap it all in heat wrap to help keep the heat away. Might make up a few extras if anyone is intrested in a set. I have been out of work for 3 weeks so would help pay the bills and get me caught up. If anyone is intrested let me know.I will keep putting up pics as I get the turbo on it ands rest of the plumbing.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
was wondering when you were going to look. I hope to get it set up like the one you had with the vette manifolds but went around back rather than the front for the crossover. Hope I can get the turbo mounted in the same spot. Where were you going to send the down pipe on yours? I plan to go through where the smog pump was and follow the frame back and tie it to the exhaust.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
I've considered using routing like that but won't the downpipe hit the pipe that comes from the driver's side? It seems like there is very little room in the motor mount/pass header area and the second pipe running up there would crowd things even further. It would seem that a pipe along the front of the engine and somehow routed around the downipe would work better. I am very curious to see what you can fit through there. Also, what about pipe flex with a big turbo hanging off of those pipes? Planning on making a brace of some sort?

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
yeah going to brace it off the fender or old smog pump bracket. I stuffed 2 2.5 inch pipes in that area with room to spare. I will be tight but the 3.5 inch down pipe will go between it all and run down the frame rail where the heater pipes were at. I was going to go with the front but saw more than enough room this way and the header for the other side was already in the kit. I will take another pic with more in there for you to see.

With my old setup around the front it left tons of room for the 3inch DP like this.

You should have room depending how you connect the rear, etc.. Looking great so far.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
turbo is now actually in place with pass side done. Have to tie in the drivers side now then down pipe. really both at the same time to make room. few more pics. forgive the ugly pipe joints at the end going to clean it up then wrap it all anyway so not too concerned but still is ugly.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
well changed my drivers side header as not enough room for the cross over pipe and a down pipe for the way I had it laid out with it all coming around the back of the engine. So I went to the front of the motor now with the crossover and will leave me more than enough room for a 3 inch maybe even a 3.5 inch down pipe. Here are a few new pics. Will do a few of the new drivers side on the car later.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
Well all the hot side is now in place other than the down pipe. I need to connect it under the car but going to wait until I get the other heads bolted on just in case it moves at all. Need to put another coat of that high temp paint on it and stink up the house one more time but other than that ready to go. Oh have to mount the wastegate too possibly behind the a/c. Seems to have enough room for this huge 46mm gate. Also if I go there it will easily hook to the down pipe for stealth operation. Here are some more pics.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
I was afraid that would happen. It looks like there's plenty of room to run the pipe by the power steering pump and under the front of the engine, so that's good.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
well had to wait until I got back to work to get on it again and here is where I am at now. I have a few wires to hook back up and a few odds and ends but nothing major left to do. Hot side and cold side all tied up and ready to go. Have to finish mounting the waste gate and route the pipe from it down and out but no big deal. Hope to get it running this up coming weekend and start tuning with the code $59. After it is running good enough to drive it is going for paint then will tune for boost.

Re: what I have so far for my custom single turbo headers
thanks, very very close to it. Got a new job and been busy so havent had the time to finish the wiring but I cant wait to take it for a spin with boost. Got the code 59 all set up and hope it runs right off the bat. Will start with 7 lbs and get it tuned to that then up to 15 or so or 650 rwhp what ever comes first. Hope to have some updates after this weekend saying it is running again. Pulling air out of the fender area and no holes cut. Just letting it pull from under the car which is the same area my cold air pulled from.
