Sniper vs NOS

Does anyone know what the difference is between the "Sniper" kits and the regular "NOS" kits?

Re: Sniper vs NOS

Sniper is the bare bones cheap kit isn't it? Comes with one nitrous setting, etc. Supposed to be the cheapest way to put nitrous onto a car. Oh, and the sexy orange bottle of course...

Re: Sniper vs NOS

Yeah from what I can tell it's a "basic" system but there's a NOS "basic" system too. And the NOS system is a couple hundred more. I figure there's got to be different solinoids or something. Looks like the nozzles are the same. Hey as long as it holds up why pay more? And the lovely orange bottle has to be worth a $50 discount at least...

Has anyone used the Sniper system? Do they hold up?

Re: Sniper vs NOS

quality is just as good as other NOS kits, just no real adjustability or room to grow in it....im gonna get one for my iroc, and my buddy is gonna trade me his polished aluminum bottle for the orange one cause it matches his car lol...

I'm looking at buying one too. 150HP right? That's exactly what I wanted. You can buy a few sets of jets if you wanted to do a 100HP shot or something, probably still cheaper than buying any other type of kit. What's the going cost right now, $380 at summit? Hard to beat.

Re: Sniper vs NOS

Look at this ebay ad.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...238787237&rd=1

$330 delivered. I believe it has all the jets for 75, 100 & 150. You can't beat that deal for 150hp. I checked out the installation manual (there's a link on the ad) and it has everything you need as far as I can tell.

One thing though. My 89 IROC has that ribbed boot between the maf and the tb and I don't think that'd be the best place for a nozzle. Seems that the fuel may puddle in the ribs. I'm thinking about going ahead and making a plate behind the TB. Still a good deal.

How much does Nitrous go for in your area. Speed shops around Huntaville AL are getting $4 a pound for refills.

Let's see...

$20 entry fee
$10 a gallon for 100 octane
$40 a bottle for nitrous

Getting to rip it up on Friday night...

Priceless!

Re: Sniper vs NOS

Looks to me like they put an orange paint job on a bottle and gave the super powershot a cooler name.

Re: Sniper vs NOS

The bottle has a different valve on it.It's amedical grade valve. When I took my bottle to be filled I'm glad I had the bottle adapter as the speed shop had not seen one like this before. Also the soleniods are a little smaller.

Do you recommend it? Is the quality of the components up to par?

Re: Sniper vs NOS

Haven't used it much but all seems to work well, when I do. for an inexpensive entry level kit it is fine. now add all the other stuff(MSD digital6 for timing and MSD RPM window, turns on and off there is no such thing as cheap nitrous..LOL

Re: Sniper vs NOS

Just an update on this. I chose the Cold Fusion Nitrous 100-200hp kit. I must say that I was pleased with the quality. On their website the "advertised" hp is rwhp And I can say that the 150 hp setting is a real nice boost! 2nd gear pulls like 1st na, 3rd like 2nd etc. I never had traction problems in second gear before! But the dang bottle runs out tooooo fast. This is gonna be like a nasty crack habit....

Both kits are made by NOS (Holley). I have both kits & my bottle valves & solenoids look the same. The Sniper kit is an entry level kit that will need several more goodies to make nitrous consistent. Get ready to buy a bottle gauge, more jets, bottle heater, longer feed lines, maybe even a throttle plate to use instead of the "fogger" nozzle.

I stand corrected, I looked at both of my bottles, and the valves are different. Both bottles have proved the same ETs, so I'm not sure how much diff the valves make.

Re: Sniper vs NOS

The sniper is a good Kit..... My dad ran this on his Camaro for a year never complained about it, I cant remeber what jets it comes with but he wasnt trying to go any higher than 150 anyway he blew that motor up, either he hit the rev limiter, or ran outta gas LOL and leaned the motor.... we will never know LOL

But he liked it and his Camaro was orange so it matched

Re: Sniper vs NOS

I got the kit from that ebay link back in March. So far so good. I've gone to the track plenty of times. The fogger works good. The solinoids work great. It came with all the needed fittings and hoses. The only thing I supplied is the necessary wiring... It is pretty bare bones kit considering the other $600+ kits. The only real difference is the bottle. Other NOS bottles have a "high flow" nozzle, but how much "high flow" do you need for a 125shot?...the jettings are for 75hp 100hp and 125hp but you can buy the necessary jet for like $7 for the nitrous to make it a 150hp shot... I recommend it

ps.does anybody want to trade bottles? I don't like the orange!
