and a couple other things that are supposed to add power i think but they dont really help lol...anyone have any suggestions?

I see you asked the same thing on the Tech/General Engine forum.
Re: cheap power?
well it could be renamed "turbo/supercharger/nos forum" but anyway to answer one other person's message, i am looking for something pretty much bolt on for the motor, something that will help increase power along the lines of like headers or something
and yes i did ask this same question in the tech/general engine and also in tpi...some people who have great advice are fond of only certain forums ive noticed so i try to ask the same question in multiple forums because i try to expand how many people can answer my question...so assume 5 people respond on each one...id much rather have 15 people giving me advice than just 5

Re: cheap power?
cam & DIY LT1 intake.......best band for the buck besides exhaust when excluding power adders. If you are OK with power adders.......100-150HP shot of nitrous.
Nothing wrong with that. I noticed that some of the wiser members only visit certain boards but have a wealth of knowledge for all kinds of things.

thats exactly my reason for posting in multiple boards...and the LT1 intake...how does that go? because to be honest i really like the look of my tpi....and how tough is it to do a cam? and finally i am not looking to do nitrous just cuz i hear that if you dont get stuff in the motor ready for the heat, you'll fry stuff like bacon...and i dont want to do that cuz its a daily driver....i just wnat to be able to light my 255/50r16's up from a stand still

Re: cheap power?
my carbed, tired 305 would do that. but to answer your Q's
A cam in car isnt that hard but you need to take car not to band the cam around ( radiator and a/c condensor need to be removed as well as the intake. A cam and good heads will wake the car up alot
LT1 intake is a good mod or HSR, or Miniram etc. plenty of bolt on TPI replacement Intakes

Cheap power, don't want to spray, don't want to do a cam. I have an idea, try forced induction but not with a blower or turbo. Go to Walmart and get 2 small 12v fans and mount them under your air filter box blowing onto the air filters, only turn them on when your wanting to burn your tires or run a Mustang. You will be amazed of what that mod will do for you.
Now that we are talking forced induction, your on the right board.

It's best to do bolt ons and not much more if you daily drive the car because the more work you do the more prone to break downs and your car getting on its period you are

Re: cheap power?
How are you gonna say that and then say this
unless you have tried the fans don't call them garbage, they are cheaper than the electric blowers on ebay and work just as good.

Re: cheap power?
im sure your the guy using the "pocket NOS" those CO2 airgun sized nitrous bottles that go in ur glove box.
And for the record when i was at school at UTI in the highperformance class we tried the tornado, turbonators, etc all that stuff on the dyno.
Guess what. no gains only losses.

Pocket nos??????? Didn't know about it, but I didn't go to UTI. What would you need, a 12 pack of those to make a pass?
Now the Tornado is another story, how could anything with a name like that not work?
Enough fun, its about time for me to get off work and go home.

At best the ternader is just a restriction in the intake.

Re: cheap power?
lmao well think about it... most modern MAF sensors Have a mesh screen to straighten out the air so it can read the air properly. sOOoo at best the tornado is twirling the air untill the MAF. that being said you think the "Tornado" of air is twirling all the way the the intake pipes making turns and going into the valve twirling...
At best the ternader is just a restriction in the intake.

I mean, I may have said I didn't go to UTI but I also didn't say where I have been.
If you took all that serious maybe UTI wasn't the best choice.
For what it worth, I know how to build power.
Re: cheap power?
this entire thread is full of fail.
so you don't want nitrous, you don't want an LT1 intake, you don't want a cam, and you don't want any kind of blower.
sell the car and buy a Honda. ANYTHING you do short of a blower will not affect your ability to daily drive the car. There are tons of cams out there that will add 20-30hp and not cause you to fail emissions if you have them, won't cause you to have to get a vaccuum canister for brakes, and will work great with your headers. You want the best of all worlds and you're driving the wrong car for that.

Re: cheap power?
well would a 58mm throttle body off an LT1 do anything? and my thing is that i dont want to get to into it with this motor, it has 160k miles and im trying to save up for a 350 for this winter to rebuild from the junkyard witha couple mods on it...im not trying to shoot down everything everyone is saying im just letting you know that at this point in time i am just trying to find something bolt on that will work

Re: cheap power?
I wouldn't think so, with a stock engine it may even hurt you some without doing some tuning. I'm no where near stock with a 383 and I only have a 52mm. I understand you don't want to go into the engine but to get power you will have to change some parts.
Look at another area, what gears do you have in that car? If your running 2.73 or even 3.08 you could change to 3.42 or better yet 3.73. This mod would help you now and give you a headstart on a faster car when you get the new engine.
Whatever you change keep the next engine in mind and buy parts that you can use then also. This way your not spending money now only to have to replace it again later.

Re: cheap power?
only cheap off the head idea is a tb air foil and descreen the maf but thats 50/50 with people on the board some like it some dont, other than that clean up your tb and intake manifold
Re: cheap power?
yeah..i may take a couple days off work in the fall and clean up the intake runners...but i understand what youre saying about the rear, i could change the gears...right now theyre going to stay (sorry i know it sounds like im rejecting everyone's ideas) just cuz as a daily driver i really really need the gas mileage...one day i will change them down and i want to get a 350 and when i get it i have no problem going into the engine...its just right now its a bit tough when i need to use it every day
Re: cheap power?
oh ok...i saw it for a while now and always thought it would be ok lol...thankfuly you guys told me about it not adding more power...i could have lost a lot of money on that lol im thinking that my best bet may be to just takea couple days off, clean the plenum, and possibly replace the fuel injectors....how about like msd ignition coil and distributor cap/rotor...would that do anything? i mean i have napa ones on ther enow
