4-bolt block needed with turbo?
Ok, Ive heard people say you dont need a 4bolt block untill you hit 500hp and or 7000 rpm. is this really true? I plan on running about 600rwhp with a mild motor and a single turbo. about a turbonetics 62-1 1inch a/r. or something similer in size. if any of you have parts for sale that might pretain to this disscution let me know.

600 RWHP would by no means be a mild motor, and is probably at the level where you'd want an aftermarket block.

Ive seen guys produce numbers like that with the stock block. But they failed to say if they were using 2 or 4 bolt mains. Plus, when I say mild motor, I mean that besides lower comp pistons, ported heads, and MILD cam, nothing drastic is done

Just use the 2 bolt, buy good hardware *think main studs here* and balance everything well, you should be ok. At that power level living on the fringe is all about the tune, go lean a few times or get some blow by and you'll be in trouble.

iv had this conversation with my dad and the neighbors (alot of race cars in my area) and its been explained to me from a friend who owns a performance parts store that the 2bolt blocks are better to start with and just have them splayed, its stronger than a factory 4bolt. a set of splayed caps would run u like between $90-$250 and its just a couple hundred bucks to have a machine shop tap the block and lined bore the new caps for ya.
