305tbi /w NOS?

Ok guys iv had my car now for about 2 1/2 years never had a ticket or acident. I have a 305tbi and im getting a little bored. I am thinking of a nos kit with a 75 shot! It has about 90,xxx miles on it. If i do get it done it will be bye a performance shop so i know its done right! I would really like to put a 350 and have 400hp but thats gona be a good 3,500 but most likely more.

So these are my mods!
Flowmaster 80 series (no cat)
3:73 posi
high performance shift kit /w corvette servo
I have all the emmisions off /w the A/C

Thats about it for makin any power. I dont know how fast i can run in a 1/4 but i would guess between 14.8-15.2 but not sure any guess would help! Lets say it ran 15 flat wat would it run then with a 75 shot?

So with a 75 shot i want to know how long i can trust my car? Will a 75 shot jus blow my engine? I would like to make sure to keep it for 3 years then im sure i will pull it. I just want to know how safe it is? I would hate to see it blown and jus sittin in the garage u know?

So be truthfull with me! Tell me how it is!

Thanks
kevin

75 will be a little boost for the motor but by no means will it be anywhere near the limits of the block and such. that motor will last forever on a 75 shot as long as its fueled and timed correctly for it. id say youd be in mid to high 15's with current mods and maybe mid 14s with a 75 if not high 14's. you could always run a higher shot such as 100-125 and itll put you well into the 14s and you might be able to touch 13s on a perfect run with the 125.

I just dont want to hurt my car by doing this. I want to have fun on the strait aways alittle just dont want to be with a car for a while. I might go to a 100 shot at the biggest.
thanks

I've been spraying a 150 shot for 3 years now with no problem on my lt1.

The most important part is to get it jetted properly with a good fuel system.

yeah i completely agree with vipershark11, a 75 shot will by no means harm your engine and i'd personally suggest a 100 shot because that also is okay for a stock 305 to handle. last month i had a friend who was selling his entire nitrous wet kit to me for $500 and installing it for me too, but i didn't have the money, but i was gonna have a 100 shot on my 305 TBI. now i do have the money but since then my plans have changed and i'm just saying screw it, i might as well wait a little longer til i have even more money to blow and get myself an LS1 or a a BBC and then go crazy with it. but yeah your 305 will be perfectly fine with a 75, man, you'll have a nice little boost to your ride with no harm done. hope it all works out well for you.

Re: 305tbi /w NOS?

jetting 125 right now im my tbi...moving to 150.

Stock plugs and running 8 degrees MORE timing then stock since i burn my own chips, i just sprayed it on top of my modded tune. No problems so far. Though i wouldnt suggest anyone else do it haha...even accidently juiced it on 87 once.

14.2 @ 98 with a 2.2 sixty

Re: 305tbi /w NOS?

Just remember to be safe get 1 step colder spark plugs and leave timing at 0 degrees initial unless you want to be really safe and retard it a couple of degrees, however ive heard of people advancing timing but i wouldnt recommend it. Like said above just make sure your fuel system is still functioning 100% because you dont want to lean out on nitrous. Trust me if you jet a 75 shot soon after you will want a larger shot i promise you this happens to everyone, when i first shot a 100 i wanted more after 1-2 sprays and i said i would never want more. Oh yea and premium gas is a big plus to stay safe also. With an intake/exhaust LO3 i pulled off a 13.5 @ 101mph but that was a perfect run and that was either a 125 or 150 cant remember it was a while ago.

Re: 305tbi /w NOS?

no this is only true for high horsepower engines, by that i mean over 400. i'm fairly certain that the 700R4 tranny will hold up well with a 100 or even 150 shot, (though with the 150 i'd worry more about the engine than the trans) but yeah your stock 305 only has 170 hp so add a 100 shot to that and its roughly the equivalent to adding a hundred or so horses to your engine all at once, which brings it to 270, thats perfectly fine for your trans to handle.

Re: 305tbi /w NOS?

Back when i started running the nitrous i ran it everyweekend at least a 10Ib. bottle through it a weekend too. But like said above watch the 700r4 if its beat or old it may give out quickly the nitrous will kill it a lot quicker you can tell by how it shifts on the juice however it may hold up for a while if in decent condition. You will definately want a wet shot which is a nitrous solenoid and a fuel solenoid so it adds both nitrous and fuel at the same time. A dry shot is sprayed into a sensor such as MAF that will adjust for the amount incoming but isnt too wise on these cars. stick with a simple wet plate kit.
