Weiand Roots

Has anyone used a weiand roots blower, such as the 142 or 144 on the LG4? It said it could add 100 some hp on a 350 so I take it, obviously less on a 305. I figured it would be something that added power until I swap a bigger engine that I could transfer it to as well.

I don't believe it clears the stock hood... not to mention if your motor is still pretty stock including the carburetor and what not, your pretty limited to the amount of stuff you can do with the supercharger

correct me if im wrong anyone but even if you use a low profile air cleaner, doesn't it still not fit??

It is pretty much linear in terms of HP increase. If it makes 100 HP on a 350ci then using a similar built 305ci it will make (305/350)*100 = 87 HP.

I would guess that the 100HP is predicted for a 350ci making about 200HP stock and the S/C pushes about 8 PSI through it.

Re: Weiand Roots

Not positive about the Weiand blower, but I'm using an Edelbrock E-Force blower which is close to the same dimensions and you'll need a 4" cowl hood and a low profile air cleaner to fit everything. -Or you can just get a 6-71 blower and cut a hole!

I've heard of power increase estimates in HP and percentage both. Most small blowers are capable of a 30-50% HP increase, but it all depends on how the engine is set up to handle the boost really.
