NO2 on my 350?
So i have a mildy built SBC 350, mods are in the signature but i'll go over it again anyway lol
350
Weiand Xcelerator Intake Manifold
Edelbrock 600cfm 4 barrel Performer Carb
Edelbrock mild performance camshaft + lifters (dont feel like looking up the specs, i dont have time, but its pretty mild)
Hedman LT headers + True dual exhaust
MSD Distributor Cap, accel HEI super coil, msd street fire SP wires, new platnium plugs.
1987 700r4 4 speed auto
3.73 rear gears
275/60/15 radial T/A's
some weight reduction (back seats, exhaust is short (no mufflers and side pipes), A/C delete, little things)
QUESTION: Now for the question, i would like to buy a used Carb Nitrous kit, and was wondering what sort of HP my motor could handle. Ive heard/researched that they are fairly simple to install for carburated motors. I'm curiours as to what my motor could/should be able to handle, i don't need anything too outrageous, 100HP would be great, more would be better, but idk. LET ME KNOW!!! :-) thanks!
Casey
PS if you have a kit thats up for sale let me know as well, obviously interested

100 is fine if the engine is in good tune and not burning oil. Start out small first and work your way up.

Re: NO2 on my 350?
On a V8 that is in decent condition 125 is never a problem and I would personal go for a 150 shot. When you get into the 150+ range you need to make some considerations for fuel delivery, total timing and ignition strength. For retarding total timing you either have to limit your total timing at all times, or consider a module such as the MSD 8676, which can retard the timing only when the nitrous solenoid is getting power. Fuel delivery can be handled with a good mechanical pump. You can probably get away with a stock one for the 125 shot but beyond that you will probably want to look at something better. For ignition, it's hard to beat something like a 6AL, but I've ran 150+ nitrous and even small blowers with an MSD internal HEI module and good coil.
Bottom line is if you bolt a 125hp kit on and make sure your total timing is reasonable, you won't have any problems but you'll have a lot of fun. That is until you start making the bi-weekly trip to the nitrous refill place at $35 a visit!

Re: NO2 on my 350?
change your plugs to something non platinum and abit colder than stock rating..just 1 step will do. Gap them tighter... .030 or so will do.
Run good premium gas
I'd go 100-125 shot. No need to go higher
make sure the plate kit can provide even distribution to the dual plane intake...

Re: NO2 on my 350?
External oil leak wont matter, it's when there's too much oil being burnt in the combustion chamber when there might be a problem. Just back your timing off 4 degrees when you plan on spraying. Performance gain? Friend's car has a 125 shot and he went from 11.80's to a 10.99. You might get a little bit bigger drop in time depending on what your car is running now. Get another fuel regulator for the nitrous fuel line to help fine tune the system. Make sure you pull a plug after a run and have a look at it.
