Almost time to start my turbo build, throwing around some ideas.

I Have been craving some more power for awhile, So i want to do a single turbo build. I already built my engine pretty good so most of that is staying the same.

My build so far:
355 .010 block
~9.5:1-10:1 CR
forged pistons
Brodix IK200 heads
Luntai 50104 cam
Edelbrock Victor Jr intake

semibuilt 700r4, 9.5" 3100 stall with anti ballon plates.

Building a good rearend later this month or next month. 3.73

I want to get a really nice roller cam, Any advice?

Im gonna buy one of those c&s? blow through carbs

Now my real questions is for building the hot side. I was thinking shorty headers backwards. Which headers should i start with? Im gonna fab the cross over just want some headers to start with.

What size turbo? I was really thinking about the MP T76

I want to run an intercooler also.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

S400 or bigger, compression nearer 9:1 and gearing nearer 3:1. You are going to have a very stout combo. Should be interesting to see how long your 700R4 lasts too.

This is tough to decide since shorties vary in style/shape/etc. I had a set of hooker 2460's I believe and backwards they would not work. They'd either hit the K member or put me right on top of the powersteering box/pump/lines area. They just didnt have the right shape/length.

Upside down they were too long and that wasnt going to work. Just by looking at pics of the shorty headers out there, you still cant get a feel for how they fit in the car.

Its probably easier to fab your own system. Its possible factory C4 vette manifolds upside down could work with a flange/90 deg bend up top to move things to the front. Or maybe even mounted correctly on the head and 90 back to the front under the motor.

If your not going to change your compression, i like the MP 76 since you will not want to run much boost but will still make good power with the low boost. Should beable to stay out of detonation with under 10psi on good gas depending on the cam. I'd do a simple single pattern cam, like a 218/218 or 224/224, mid 500's lift, on a 112-114 lsa. Should be fine with that. Mild cam but will make strong power on the boost.

ok cool maybe ill do one of those make your own header kits summit has. I was thinking a 3" crossover but some people say 2.5" would be better for spool time. any input?

2.5" should be plenty on this setup and is easier to fit to a T4 flange.

Ultimate cheap mod would be these

Factory C4 vette manifolds/headers. Can maybe use those and then run a 90 bend from the collector towards the front of the car

possibly. If you can get some measurements you can be sure if they are going to fit and allow a pipe to come out to the front or not.

Another way for a single is to run a regular shorty on the drivers side and if you can get another shorty turned backwards facing front, you can have the drivers side exhaust go down under the car behind the oil pan then back up under the passenger side manifold, to merge into one pipe that will go to the turbo. This is kinda how BBS designs did their kit and how SS autochrome does a carbon copy kit.

There was a picture floating around here using those headers with a single setup. I think he had it for sale at some point. His username had "383" in it. He is over at turbomustangs too.
They were flipped and used 90* elbows. The turbo was on the right side next to the radiator.

I think TPI383 did one of these setups or something similar as well.

Yea one guy had measurements for his set he was selling. He said they go 9 inches down so ill have to measure today to see if that will work.
