Need some nitrous build advice

I am in the planning phase of my engine rebuild and also planning to run some nitrous on it later.

I have read a lot of posts here about nitrous usage, so I understand why forged pistons are better for nitrous application than hyper ones.

My question is the following: is it reasonable to run forged pistons with stock rods and ARP bolts in a nitrous application or forged rods are required also?

My plans are about 280 base HP + a 100 shot of nitrous.

i dnt think its really how much n2o you put to it, its how high of rpm you will be running the motor, rpms is ultimatly what breaks rods. with that said it would prob be worth the extra insurance to go forged rods but depending on how good/used your stock ones are you could prob get away with useing stock rods but just dont ask them to live a long life

Without n2o I don't think that I want to rev it over 5000 RPM because I am planning to keep the factory TPI intake with a little port work.

How would this top RPM change with nitrous? It will be the same or a bit more?

i would leave the motor stock at those power levels. maybe freshen it up with some bearings and rings.

Actually I am planning a full rebuild anyway. Nitrous is just a future plan that I would like to prepare for.

So you say that with stock rods and hypereutectic replacement pistons I will be fine with these numbers?

Re: Need some nitrous build advice

My buddy ran 175 on a 383 cast everything. And another Guy I knew ran a125 on a stocker with a LOT OF MILES. So stock overhaul sounds safe to me lol
